Aftermarket winter wheels/tyres for M4

Hey chaps.
I'm looking into winter tyre options for my m4. It's become clear quickly that winters for the rear (oem wheels) aren't available so I'm looking at a set of aftermarket wheels and winter tyres. I don't like the BMW offering plus super expensive at £2500 for a set of 18's with tyres.

Has anyone else gone this route with aftermarket 18's and winter tyres. I need to know what offset and wheel width I should be looking at? I've spoken to a few suppliers but would be handy to know if their suggestions are correct before I buy the wrong thing and run into issues.
Standard brakes not CS in terms of Calliper clearance.

Thanks for any comments you lot have on this.

I've just ordered a set of winters 255x35x19 and 275x35x19 for the rears.

Why do you think they're not available? (admittedly mine haven't arrived yet!)

admittedly after i posted that, one tyre shop just called me to say they've found some kumho winters in 275/35/19 and 255/35/19 all in £590

before that option i called 7 different tyre places and all said the 275's didnt exist in a winter and 255's are too narrow to fit on the rear oem wheels

out of interest what brand have you ordered and what supplier?

Hankook ordered them from Oponeo, £608 for the set.

My local dealer said they couldn't find any either.

I'm NOT having a good experience with Oponeo....

Ordered 4 x Aplin PA4s (2x 255/40/18 & 2x265/40/18)

All good, then got two order numbers through which I thought was odd, but they have told me this is normal.

Got order processing emails for both orders and then dispatch email and tracking for one of the orders. Yesterday the 255s turned up with no signs of the 265s.

Their customers are F'ing useless sending me different stories in each reply, now they are say the tyres come from two difference warehouses and they have been dispatched but have no tracking information for them...

I had the same issue last year with Mytyres Foggy, but they came eventually, split delivery the rears came from Romania the fronts from Germany.

Not sure we have a choice though as no one in the UK could get me them last year and looks the same this year.

As long as they arrive within the next 2 weeks I'll be fine, the only good thing about mytyres is the tracking on DPD is pretty good I was hoping for the same from oponeo but maybe not.

I don't put much trust in the "in stock" tab on many tyre websites.

so im now in a quandary, a mate who used to be in the tyre industry has just told be to look at camskill. they have both hankook w320 in 255 an 275 and michelin alpin PA4 in the same size.

michelin are £969 and hankook are £621 (opono quote 618 now for hankook so guess price went up - £3 either way so whatever..)

i hear the Michelin's are excellent but are they £350 better? hmm may scratch my head a little on this one. my excess is £900 so one shunt in winter and ill regret not getting winter tyres.

Indeed they probably are, I've had my split invoices hopefully I'll get a your order is on its way email soon!

It snowed here today and to be fair my summer Contis weren't that bad, not great at all but I was surprised I managed to move and not get stuck as my experience with MPSS and PS2 are that they are next to useless in the snow.

Hopefully we won't have anymore until they arrive.

Did you have to pay in advance with MyTyres? They took my credit card details for my order of winter tyres and then asked if I could instead transfer the money to their bank account. They wouldn't release the tyres until I had done so. Highly irregular practice, as I told them before cancelling my order.

They debited my card when the order was released which I was happy with.

I got 2 invoices, one when the fronts were shipped then another 10 days later when they eventually found some rears in Romania.

I've used mytyres twice, this is my first time with Oponeo who have debited my card today on ordering and sent me the invoices, hopefully this means they will be on their way.

I would have been equally happy with them debiting my card but to ask me to transfer cash seemed odd. Must have been just me... Thanks anyway!

Does seem strange when you'd paid on your CC.

Good question, they usually take forever to do it, £50-75?

I think the normal price for a garage is £20-£25 per corner, so if you get it done from a dealer for that then seems a good price!

I used to slip the local kwik fit lads £25 for all 4, only takes 30 mins so £75 is max I'd pay.

I've had two sets of PA4 they are good but I preferred the PA2 id had before so I thought I'd try the cheaper Hankooks this time.

Finally both sets have arrived, booked in for Friday at the dealer, just in the nick of time as the rears are shot after 23,000 miles.
