D2 everything else in Sport+ is a great setting for the motorway....Get out of my way!

Anyway, what spec are you going for on the 335d, full leather etc..?

Yes wills, full leather and dash. I'd have to make it a bit different and more special than my last 335d else not much point in getting one! And all the rest of the usual stuff, various packs, M Sport+, adaptive led lights, HUD etc.... May go for electric seats and lumber to help get a decent seating position after having them in the M3 but does add over a grand to the price and I don't really need them as the missus doesn't drive it!
Also spec'd surround cameras and rear camera, again probably a nice to have, not sure.

Out of interest, this the review I did of the 530d I keep going on about! http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1290958

Sounds a good spec very nice, I'd look at a individual colour as well to make the car special, citrine black is lovely as an example someone has just taken delivery of a 335i on the f30 UK forum in that and looks lovely. I'd also go for the full electric seat and lumber better safe than sorry.

Yes I read that thread when you posted it and replied in agreement with you.

I drove a 535d f10 a few months back.. My dad had it on loan and asked what I think..

It's well made but that's about it. Was my comment.

Felt heavy, wallowy, rode much worse than my m3 on ACS springs. It was an M sport on runflats and was shocking.

To each their own.

No foggy, to be honest I won't get a lot more for it as Tony has offered a fair price for it. Also no one would really want to finance nearly a £50k car buying private, well not unless they got it for about £40k, and I'm not letting it go for that.

Hi Dopper, inhave to say I was surprised when you went for they M3 as you didn't really come across as M car type of driver. That's not meant as a judgement, just how I perceived you. So this thread isn't coming as a major surprise to be honest, just perhaps even earlier than I would have expected.

My dad worked in a BMW dealership from 1979 till 2015 and has seen the same journey a hundred times- a guy doing well in life, works his way through increasing performance 3 series, then at an age when the M3 becomes feasible jumps to that when really what it was time to do was move to a 5 series! This was particularly common with the E36 M3, and so many went from a 328i sport to an M3 then very quickly to a 528i!

I've got the opposite issue in that I'm in a 335d when I should be in an M3, but my miles and usage don't really allow it. Perhaps we should do a swap!

Having said that, with all my mods my car is still an awesome high mileage all rounder, it just isn't a sports car, and it's not all that fun on track, which is not an issue for you.

Hey Tengo, yes you've hit the nail on the head!! I've now realised I'm not that kind of M car driver!! Spent my life wanting one, but when it actually comes to owning one, well .... you can read the above.

Its a brilliant car for sure - but for the right person. I know you like tracking your car so yes, it would be a great car for you!!! But as a daily driver, its a bit too much for me and sadly does nothing for me.

It's a difficult balance and for someone like me, similarly to Guy, who has a very broad range of needs to satisfy from a car it's difficult to get it right. I recently had a 911 to try for a few days and could tell after that I could never consider one as a daily driver, so we all sit on a spectrum. Unfortunately I can't afford to run one just as a weekend toy so back to the drawing board...

If you fancy driving my 335d to see how a nicely modified one would suit you then let me know, I don't think you're too far from me now I'm in Oxfordshire?

Yes, your car is pretty much one of the best modded cars on the forum. Very well sorted indeed!
Thank you sir for your kind offer of meeting up, I will give it some thought and get back to you on that........

I'd seriously consider looking at the new 530d or waiting for the 540d, might be the perfect car for you.

When will the 530/540d be available to order?

Having also owned both (admittedly not the CP car) my experience was different, F8X felt and sounded very fast. Splitting hairs though, we all see things differently.

M3 cp is meant to be worked to get the most from it but that's great for a DD. Lazy casual when not in the mood and get the M settings dialled in and it's a beast for the weekend.

Car comes alive above 60mph under WOT. That's when you know the car is faster than a 335D.

Give it some time into dry fairer weather. Don't be hasty

Order books are open for the 530d as far as I'm aware delivery March, 540d hasn't been announced IIRC but we know it will be coming.

The M550i has been announced but no word on it coming to the UK.

I think to be fair Chris and from what I've read on cutters, the earlier M3/4's were much more abrupt in their low down power delivery so I guess felt quicker - but then suffered from the spinning rear end. Guys that have had the software updates on the earlier cars to bring them up to LCI software have commented how the car does not feel quite is urgent, but traction has improved. I think from what I've read, the CP falls into the latter. And as for the increase in bhp over the standard car - I think that marketing bollox from what I've read.

No sorry, the 335d does not feel faster, and driven properly is a lot more urgent at all times! That's from someone who has owned both

I do feel you are trying to convince yourself the M3 isnt for you, which is fine as clearly not a match, but as someone else pointed out you have owned it for 5 mins and not the best time of year with regards to road conditions etc. I wouldn't jump the gun just yet if i were you.
