With the impending new G series would you buy a current model M4?

My 440i is going In for its first service next week, it's just over two years old and the dealer phoned me saying they have a couple of 0% M4s in stock with big discounts

The question is, should I - would you be happy buying a model that's about to go out of production?

I'm going for a test drive on Monday

I would see just how excited you are when you drive it. The new car will be around 18 months to 2 years off before you could get one on your path imho.

Yes. The M4 won't be replaced for a good couple of years, and even then the deals won't be there as they are now, so it's far from assured in my head that I'd have a new one any time soon.

Yeah, I'd consider it. In fact if you wouldn't mind sharing details (PM?) if you don't bite? Thought 0% had gone.

I went for another M4 on 0% just recently. As people are saying the new one is still at least 2 years out and will cost a lot more on finance for a while after that. Plus you may actually prefer the F82 at least for a while anyway ... speak to some E92 M3 owners!!

Personally, I think its a bit of a bargain at the moment ... when you compare vs even a s/h 991. I got something like 10 grand off and 0% - quite hard to argue with numbers like that.

Drive it and see what you think - make sure it is a Competition Pack though . I think the step up from a 440i will be just that little bit more noticeable in terms of poise/focus.

R.

I got the F80 in the month it ceased production and zero regrets.

Just go for it.

I VT'd my 340i as the offers for the F80 were good at the time. 0% & 12K off list.
I will most likely let this one run the 4 years PCP though.
The new M3/4 will probably have been out for over a year by then.

Funny bit i am in the same dilemma. Looking at ordering a M4, but was thinking if i should wait till the G8X comes out.

Like what you said above, the deals now are really good. If i go down the route of F82 M4, looking at march time.

Found three websites which can give a better discount than BMW. After that go to your local BMW and they will match your quote. Knocked off 12k off the list price.

When are they ending production of the M4.

I think the new one wont be out for a while yet. I got this update from my dealer
"The new M3 won't be available until next year, main focus this year is on the 3 series saloon launch in March, then the Touring Sept/Oct.

The M4 will probably be 2021, once the new 4 series is launched."

So a while to go still. I'll bet you will enjoy the M4. It's always an occasion. I will be interested to see how you compare it to the 440i. There are huge differences to a M440i and M4

The biggest issue I have with my 440i is that I'd doesn't feel special, it just looks like a 420d from the side / Front / interior etc.

I want something special next - they dealer sent me a video of a Champagne Quartz M4 competition pack and it looks immense ! I went with Tanzanite on the 40i never again!!

That’s the exact reason I went from my F31 to my F80. My 330d might as well have been a 318d - made worse when all LCI models got twin exhausts!

Great cars but bland in the presence of the M version! At least you have some noise from the 40i! I very much doubt you’d regret making the change though, the feel and control is much better that what you have now!

What’s wrong with tanzanite?

I would drive one and then go for it!!

I picked up my M4CP in December. Originally I ordered an M2 CP but still didn't have a confirmed delivery date by the time the M4 was delivered. The 0% on a PCP and a good discount brought the M4 to a similar monthly payment but the colour (I picked SMB) and the spec made the M4 a no brainer

Tanzanite just seems to show up every single swirl mark, it's a nightmare to keep clean and is a bit bland when the sun isn't out.

With the news that BMW listened to all the stuff that we bitched about the F30 and 'fixed' it on the G20, I'd wait for the new M3/4 to see if they actually made it better

Thats good to know. I've seen a few photos of them in the sun and they really pop however I suspect like my Azurite Black, most of the time it just looks plain black in UK weather. I was thinking Tanzanite M4...hmmm maybe not now.

I thought the M4 cessation of production was,
F82 M4 - 06/20 ? I guess I was primarily thinking about the current shape 4 series which is stopping production earlier than that.

Had a blast in the car I absolutely loved it, was given a 20 mile drive in a brand new Tanzanite M4 competition pack which only had 11 miles on the clock - felt bad but it was a demonstrator and had been warmed up to temp before I tested it

Would have went for it if it hadn't been for the circa. 7k negative equity in my 40i, the good news is that my VT point is in the summer so will look again then. It did feel special but I'm not sure the inside was different enough (Iv'e had Two F series cars in the past 6 years - 335d and 440i.)

What sort of prices should I expect ? The dealer didn't budge on 0% finance £10k off list £724 a month as per sticker in the window, is this a good deal?

Can't really say I'm too disappointed getting back In the 40i for now.

Lovely car by the way if anyone's on the look out.

That colour is actually Champagne Quartz.

No icons on it either which would put me off personally.

Lovely car tho.

Yeah I know it's champagne quartz, I was given a test drive in a Tanzanite blue car. Need to wait and see what's available in the summer.

no matter how much the dealer is blowing smoke....you are going to take a big ass depreciation hit on your 440, making the price of the m4 moot...just being realistic
