Congrats. Great choice. Turbos almost get overlooked for some reason because of GT craze.

I think we got our CS only a few weeks apart back in fall of 2018. You knew everything about the car, very helpful.

I also looked into 992 but am waiting for GTS. Though with current shortage and high Porsche demand, the CS may be here longer than initially expected. Which is fine since I’m finally taking her out to proper track days this summer!

I'd say the Turbo gets overlooked whilst the Turbo S gets all the coverage and sales. I'm certain they sold more 991 TTS than TT.

To clarify for others here... the first visit to the dealer is at 10,000 miles and the differential fluid (or is it differentials?) is never changed*. Very different than BMW. When I asked my dealer about coming in early he said "why?"

Now Porsche does have a more conservative break-in period, 2,000 miles where you are supposed to keep it under 4K... except... while I've read about that and seen it everywhere, when I pulled out my manual the other day, I could find no mention of it. It might be burried in there, but it certainly was not in the appendix.

Yeah my 2015 GTI first oil change was at 5,000 miles
I guess VW AG put the real toughness in the GTI

That's a beautiful Porsche! Who care's if it's not an S. Ive never really cared for the looks of these cars until a few years ago, but they have perfected it's timeless design. Kind of like M division prior to the 2021 M3 where they dropped the ball.

From what I gather, the TT-S indeed outsells the TT. I'll repost here the rational that got me into the TT. It is important to point out that when I first started looking into a 992, it was the C2S I was considering. But when all the TT-S driving reviews started to come out, stating how much "GT3 feel" was infused into this gen turbo driving experience, it really caught my attention.

I did a performance per $ analysis speccing the various variants to my liking (all prices in CAD and hp in DIN):

992 C2S --> $170k --> 376$/hp
992 TT --> $218k --> 376$/hp
992 TT-S --> $249k --> 389$/hp

While the turbo is a whopping $48k over the C2S, I do get a rather significant 130hp boots in power (@375$/hp), plus I get the wider body, wider track, wider wheels and tires, 4WD, active aero, extra cooling, bigger brakes, 700cc extra engine displacement and a few more or less trivial standard features. Jumping to the turbo-S adds a rather significant $31k to the price for a non-negligible 70hp power jump (@$441$/hp), but without any other performance/cosmetic benefits over the base turbo, plus I am forced into two options I preferred to avoid: PCCB and PDCC. That's how I settled on the turbo being in the sweet spot for me .

And most want the top dog for bragging rights and fear of missing out.

P. S.: "I drive a black X50" sounds much cooler than " I drive a black Turbo S," they should bring that name back.

Indeed, when you do the conversion at ~0.80FX, we are getting a pretty sweet deal in Canada .

I've received many PMs requesting a review of the car, so here's a quick take:

15 track days in, I can say this car is a real sweetheart. 3 seconds faster than my M4cs (which was 2.5 seconds faster than my 2015 M4) and I am still learning it. It definitely has more in it. I run PSC2 as a combined street and track setup. While not the best nor fastest track tire out there by far, the PSC2 makes for a very decent compromise between street and track. And after years of swapping out wheels/tires for each track event, I have to say I really enjoy an "arrive and drive" car. I was not able to find proper track pads locally yet and I have to say I am quite impressed with the stock brakes on the 992TT, I don't have much to complain about in terms of performance. I am also quite impressed with the practicality of the car. For the last event of the season, I drove up to the track with the whole family (wife plus two kids 7 and 10), luggage for the weekend, track gear (tool box/air pig/chair/helmet). We had a nice dinner with friends the night before and then chased GT3RSs the next day. This car rocks .

Just got the track season's pictures sorted out:

Reading this brings a tear to my eye. It's absolutely amazing to see someone enjoying a car to its fullest and not worrying about mileage or resale. Please keep doing what you're doing as it's people like you who give me hope for the automotive future.

Curious how is tire wear ? Seems less finicky than BMW's although they both ride McPherson struts.

Surprisingly good now that I’ve gotten my alignment and pressures properly dialled in. My rear tires are on their ninth day and the front on their seventh plus ~6,000km of daily use and still decent tread meat left. The tires are past their prime as I am 2-3sec off my pace, but they still offer enough grip to have fun.

Impressive indeed, what changes did you have to do to your alignment to mitigate wear ? I bet the shoulders wear faster with stock alignment.

I ran Cup2s on my M2 the first season and I was able to get around 8 days at around -3 of camber I remember having plenty of confidence with them, I am installing a *spec set next week on the M4.

-1.7deg front and -2.9deg rear (the 911 has most of the weight on the rear). I used the 991.2 GT3RS recommended track settings as a starting point. I aim for 32-35psi hot pressures. I started off with higher pressures and quickly discovered that killed the tires due to excessive slipping.

I think you’ll really like the G8X spec PSC2. From what I gather, BMW and Michelin invested significantly in their development.

If I may ask another question, how do you find the seats for track driving ? I am thinking of ordering a 911 to receive it around the time I will sell the CSL.

I also have a little girl and I like to bring my family with me to one or two track days per summer. With the new BMW 2-piece buckets you can keep your back seats but with Porsche its one or the other.

Appreciate in advance

Porsche offer a total of 5 different seat options in the 992, with different combination of those options depending of the 911 variant:
  • 4-way Regular seats
  • 14-way Regular seats
  • 4-way Sport seats
  • 18-way Sport seats
  • 2-way CF bucket seats

I opted for the 18-way Sport seats because I find they offered the best compromise between street and track. For the street, I open up both the seat bottom and seat back side bolsters and inflate the lumbar support for a nice and comfortable seat. On track, I deflate the lumbar support and tighten the seat bottom and seat back side bolsters for a bucket like snug fit that holds me very well during track driving. Furthermore, the side bolsters and lumbar support are recognised in the seat memory in the 992 (that was not the case on my F8X), so I have one memory button set for the street setup and one memory button set for the track setup for a quick and easy change over.

I sat in the G8X CF bucket seats on track (one of my student had a G80 during an event), and I actually found them no more supportive than the 18-way in my 911. So I'd say the G8X CF "bucket" seats are the equivalent of the 18-way Sport seats in the 911. And that the full fixed bucket seat in the 911 are the equivalent on the new CSL fixed buckets.
