They at least somewhat tried to incorporate the grille on the M car, but god damn does it look like an afterthought on the G22. And whoever says they did it for cooling purposes, erm, nope. Quote:

The only annoying thing with G8X based on what I've seen on grille mods is that you need to remove the entire front bumper since the kidneys are no longer isolated at the top of the bumper

Seen a grey m3 approach me today on a 2 way road. The way the whole hood line bend towards the grills just looks so sloppy and ugly. Yikes. |

All the Vorsteiner grills do is prove the giant vertical grills serve no function over the traditional design(two top kidneys and one lower horizontal grill). Actually one could argue with a traditional design there could be more airflow with the center divider removed from lower intake. Vorsteiner just highlights they are in fact separated by a horizontal bumper bar. It is a fail no matter how someone tries to address the design.

I don't hate the Vorsteiner grille, I like that it's an improvement over the OEM one and that it's not a full bumper replacement compared to the Evaero model, so more people should be able to do it on their own.
Still holding out for an M8, M340i or M5 style full bumper replacement. I know there are difficulties with that, but I think the G8x is a great evolution for me from my F82, but I can't buy an ugly car.

BMW Development Director Frank Weber:
According to Weber, [BMW] is "working on a new generation of engines: petrol, diesel, six-cylinder, eight-cylinder." And in Porsche BEV News: Porsche executives believe the brand, whose customer base is mainly performance-focused buyers, does not need the Artemis advanced autonomous driving functions. The brand lobbied VW Group for its version to be built in a Porsche plant.Anybody still think Porsche will be hanging around VW much longer? |

But it's neither surprising nor nonsensical. Bentley wanting to do paint & assembly of the EV luxobarge themselves makes total sense. It's how the current models are made, with body-in-white and powertrains arriving from Europe. And it is still a tiny company, thus leaving VAG to take care of the bulk of the work was to be expected. PAG board members are way too proud to share anything with the plebs aka Volkswagen AG. Oh, wait, no, they love to share with others but only when they build it. Nuff said. Though, I was expecting the reports to firmly tell that the upcoming Cayenne would be built at a Porsche plant instead of the Slovakian plant. Having the Cayenne as a standalone PAG model would've truly been the nail in the coffin. I don't think the day is near just yet, but Porsche might very much just leg it before it gets too late and when they do, I reckon they'd take Bentley and Bugatti with them as well. When I was at one of the Group brands, rumours were going around that Porsche was cooking up some deal with Bentley, and then other rumours that VW might get rid of Bentley altogether if they don't improve their financial situation. That has been postponed. I believe neither are gonna stay in the Group, but as much as the Brits seem to be doing well now, they can't survive on their own, though. Bentley and PAG are very tight-knit due to their collaboration, which is obviously rather vast and which started by PAG forcing Bentley to buy their (expensive) shit amongst other secret limitations that don't get talked about. Bugatti, with the whole Porsche-Rimac join venture thing, I don't think there's much discussion to be had in this regard. Diess has lost some of his control and the new lad on board, who he had beef with, is also in Porsche SE and has close ties with the Piech/Porsche family... So, the implications are clear. It's crazy how they're all fighting against each other whilst VAG has also got the whole Bundesrepublik watching their arse.
