Filter Kit for BM3 E85

Over the last 2 weeks Ive been working with Bend Calibration to come up with a "filter only" kit that would be a supplemental system to the BM3 Flex Fuel Kit. It is a complete plug-n-play unit. It is not on their website but if you are interested PM and ill get you in touch with who you need to talk to. Here are some pictures of the new unit.

I would be very interested if this is pure plug n play. I already have the BM3 Flex Fuel kit.

That's exactly what this is. I have the BM3 flex fuel kit and wanted to add some filtration for peace of mind.

Nice! That looks like an awesome solution. I've also been very content with my ultimate kit from Bend.

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills here. $625 for a filter and some an fittings and hose…? Am I the only one that sees this as double or triple it’s reasonable price?

The ID750 unit itself is $300 from Injector Dynamics. Add another $50 for the fuel filter.

That is what makes the kit expensive unfortunately.

I’m sure they can explain the cost in multiple ways. Knowing what the market has produced for filters and catch cans for decades now, cost of materials this thing costs less than $50 to manufacture. To each his own, and it seems everyone that’s commented so far finds the value to match the price. I sure don’t and can only assume there were others out there like me who just don’t see it.

Most of the cost does seem to come from the Injector Dynamics filter housing. It's a $300 unit. And quality AN fittings/hoses aren't cheap either.

Not too mention the cost of their manufacturing/overhead costs.

Their full ultimate kit sells for $1k plus and it seems many people have been more than willing to spend that.

It's certainly not a "cheap" option but I wouldn't say it's over priced…like many other M products we see on here lol.

I would say that the new BM3 Flex Fuel kit shouldn't be $600 but I bought one so I can't be that upset about it haha.

But like you said to each their own!

Lol I was considering the same flex fuel kit even though I’ve been running E85 custom tune for nearly two years with zero issues and no additional filtering. Programming, electronics and integration into the vehicle canbus take money so at $600 it seemed a steal to me. This is metal and hoses. Again, you’re right cause you’ve multiple companies changing markup. Not crapping on this at all, glad it’s here and you’re right many products are not “cheap” for our cars. I’m simply commenting the markup on this unit is more than most.

Totally get it!

My other argument is to having a full flex fuel system:

For $1025 I can buy the Ultimate Kit from Bend and spend the time needed wiring into the DME and then when the time comes to uninstall the system to sell.

Or

Spend $1225 and I can have install done within 30 minutes with no DME tapping. Then when the time comes resale is easier.

Just my thought process between the two options. In my mind the $200 premium is worth it lol. Again not arguing with you by any means! Just a little insight to the twisted way this brain works lol.

Got my kit put on yesterday.

Packing and instructions were perfect, the unit is quite hefty but fits behind all the panels just fine. Install went without a hitch.

Very happy with this kit; would recommend for sure.

Looks great. Make sure to change the filter before 10000 miles since the first run will dislodge all of the junk that's in the tank.

The pressure gauge was in "need to replace" around the 7000 mile mark. I think Ian recommends to replace the first filter even earlier than that and with good reason.

What does a used filter look like from one of these kits after the recommended service interval? Preferably cut open and dissected? I just want to have a reason to need this because it seems pretty sweet yet between owning two S55 equipped vehicles with a combined total of 300K miles (I'd say about 100k on E85) I've had no issues that would have been prevented by having a filter.

I did make note in one thread about either the MHD or PTF 15 min PnP DIY Flex Analyzer kit that Bend would probably modify their lineup to compliment, compete with or accommodate the competition. Nothing wrong with that but just curious about data and proof that it's a must-have.

Well we do know the filter is catching something due to the flow indicator being less on a used filter than a new filter. I would imagine any particulate visible to the naked eye (50-60 microns in size) would likely kill an injector
