NJ Port delays
I am asking for advice and feedback on typical port delays. My M3 arrived June 30th in NJ and is still at the port. The dealer advise me that there was a scratch on the carbon center console. This was last week. We requested to ship the car as is and get this repaired when the part becomes available due to back order. The car has been there an additional week with no movement in status. Work order was opened July 9th.
Any thoughts on typical delays. How can I find out if there was any other damage? My cynicism thinks that car was hit and they are buying time to fix it. There should be no reason for such a delay, especially since I ordered this car on December 30th 2017! Last edited by 09carreras; 07-17-2018 at 10:38 AM.. |

I wouldn't stress. Could very well be just a scratch on the carbon and back order. VPC can refuse to send the car to the dealer until the work order is closed.
They are not "buying time" because something is damaged. By law, they must notify you of any damage that affects more than 3-5% of the vehicle's vale (depends on the state). Considering how expensive parts are for this car, anything other than just a minor trim piece would require notification most likely. You are overthinking it. Relax, breath, you will get your car soon enough. I have seen posts about cars staying at port for 1.5 months due to a back order. Hoping that's not your situation, but it happens.

My car was stuck in NJ VPC (it is a black hole) from June 27 and was released on July 11. It still need to pass by Baltimore VPC which doensn't make any sense since my previous 2 ED went straight from NJ to OH.
My car just arrived at my dealer today but cannot release it since it got no record if the 1200 miles service was done. They called up BMWNA but they cannot give a definite answer if it was done. While in NJ VPC, they cannot give info on what was happening until you really force the issue. It turned out that they have to fix a "MINOR" scratch on the bumper. 2 week to fix a MINOR scratch. Replacing it will take 1 week max. Sorry to hijack your post but I am really pissed off with how BMWNA doing some cost cutting without considerations for their customer. |

As long as the 1,200 service happens less than 2,000 miles it can be CPOed. I pulled the service history on 6 different CPOs while searching and all were done 1500-1950 miles. I asked a friend at a dealer, and as long as it's been done less than 2k miles it's good to go.

My car has been at the Baltimore VPC since last Friday. It got through the VPC and released to a truck Monday and the car has yet to arrive at the dealer with nobody knowing where it is. The trip from the VPC to my dealer is only 4 hours

I finally got my car on the 18th of July. The dealer did the 1200 service even though they didn't hear any confirmation on what was done. I received the BMW Survey and I told them that I am very disappointed with the whole re-delivery service. I grilled BMWNA and VPC in general but gave my dealer the highest score of 10. After a couple of days, I got an email from my SA that BMW is not satisfied on how the dealer handled out this re-delivery. How will they push the blame on my dealer? My SA said that, that how it works on BMW Land.
In addition, they found out that the 1200 miles service was done in NJ VPC. Talked about BMW efficiency. So now they can double CPOed my car. |
