Disabling double door actuation
Is there a way to code out the need to pull the door handle twice to get out of the car after parking?
It's driving me crazy that I have to "confirm" or get permission from the car that I want to get out... |

It’s Autolock. You can code that out from what I remember. You can also fully shut your car off before getting out, as it will unlock the driver’s door.

There is no way to code out the need to pull the handle twice to open a locked door since this is a mechanical interlock.
There are however different options available to avoid having the door locked when “parking” the car. The easiest is in iDrive. There is an option in iDrive that locks the doors when you drive off. By unselecting that option, the door will remain un-locked (unless you manually lock them) and hence you will only need to pull the handle once when exiting the car. You can also code for the doors to automatically unlock when the engine is shutdown. This will ensure that you pull the door latch only once when “parking” the car even if you have the iDrive option to lock after driving off enabled or if you have manually locked the doors. Note that you would still need to pull twice if the you want to exit the car when the doors are locked with the engine running.

It's no big deal. Just get in the habit of pulling twice, quickly. It's been 7.5 years since I learned that trick. Doesn't bother me in the least.

Or... you can always press that rather curious Lock Button in the center too.
You are pulling twice because you didn't unlock the doors. Unlock the doors completely after you turn the engine off, you pull once.
