Not lately, especially for the F8X platform...

Regardless of whether or not they hated they can still be biased towards BMW as a whole.

I mean, I hate certain things about my two cars, but I am still biased towards BMW and Mercedes if given the choice over say an Audi or similar competitor.

The lap times speak for themselves. A convincing and well deserved victory for the embattled M4

An ugly overweight boat, an under steering, nose heavy cruiser or a track oriented M4? Hmm.

Mercedes AMG C63 S

Make no mistake, we love the bombastic and entertaining C63 S, particularly its firecracker of an engine – the twin-turbo V8 is one of the best in the business. Yet while its instant-gratification fun is hard to resist, its abilities are a little uneven in this company, and its hefty kerb weight means it is the slowest at the track (and thirstiest at the pumps). Factor in its poor cabin build and a hefty £7485 premium over the next cheapest car here and its fate behind the Audi is sealed. Barker sums it up nicely: ‘Overall, it doesn’t feel as well resolved or as engaging as the other two. It has the most attention-grabbing exhaust note, but in this company Mercedes is selling the sizzle, not the sausage.’

Um.... since when does the Mercedes have poor build quality. Every single other review always says the merc has one of the nicest cabins in its class and sometimes even better than higher class luxury cars. I can't take this review seriously if they're going to try and say the Mercedes doesn't have a fabulous interior. Especially compared to the BMW.

Its funny how when it was released the cabin seemed light years ahead and somehow the M3 has aged better (with full leather, without the full leather cabin looks super cheap to me). I still think the AMG is nicer inside but not by as much as I once did. The benzo's infotainment system is borderline unusable after getting used to idrive too.

Without reading the full article I'd say they would have observed specific issues in the specific press car they had been given by Merc UK to conduct the test.

That's exactly what made me think they're just shitting on Mercedes because it's not BMW, I was so confused

I've actually read something similar before. Like the cabin looks pretty nice at first glance, but the material and surfaces actually don't really feel as good as thought.

The same with the E Class. Take a look at the new wagon comparison video of Carwow (5 series, E Class, Volvo V90), they've said the same.

Interior design-wise, Merc is excellent; however, on the forums there are a few complaints regarding build quality (rattles in dash, buzzing etc.) That could be what EVO is referring to; not materials and design.

1) My statement was that the QV is the new competition for the F8x. Can you show me where I say the BMW is absolutely superior?

2) The QV was released 3 years after the F8x. I would hope it would win some comparisons, at least initially. It's definitely not "hands down" dominating anything, except for reports of random errors and reliability issues.

Gutted that they left the Alfa out, that is the real competition. The RS5 and C63S are too heavy and less track focused IMO.

Agreed you didn't say that. I was just elaborating the reasons why I would never buy the Alfa, and why it wouldn't even make the consideration shortlist.

Moral of the story, Audis are for wankers. The rs3 is overhyped and over priced as well.

Wow....apparently I'm not the only one then.

For whatever reason, I just can't stand column shifters....and it's enough of a pet-peeve that it prevents me from looking at any vehicles with one. It keeps me from even looking at the C63S Coupe (prefer my M4 anyway), and it moved me from looking at a Ram Power Wagon 2500 and instead into a Ford Raptor.

Personally, I think the current-gen Benz cabins are looking dated or at least I'm getting tired of them already. The styling is very dramatic and striking but it got old quickly. The material quality in the Benzes is excellent, even in most of the C class interior, but the worst part by far is their infotainment system.

I'm in BMWs and Benzes all day long at work and I have always preferred the simpler styling of BMW interiors, they tend to age better to my eye and everything you touch (seats, steering wheel, iDrive knob, center console buttons, etc.) all feel just right to me.

Audi interiors look great, especially now, but their buttons feel so incredibly cheap and clicky. Aside from the button feel, the interior quality and fit & finish is excellent.
