Engine Machine Shops South Florida?

Hi bimmerpost F80 forum. I have an n20 but I figured this part of the board would know more info.

I'm looking for a machine shop to install sleeves + convert open deck to semi or closed + micropolish and balance crank/pistons/rods/bearings etc. I gave active Autowerk a call however they just told me to call Carbahn out in Cali for an engine build. I personally have modest goals (500-550 whp), and buying a n55/b58/s55 powered chassis sounds great, my current car is paid off. Thats the best kind of car to own IMO .

Does anyone have an engine builder/shop they know here in Florida who is familiar with BMWs? I'm aware Mario's shop does external things but isn't a machine shop.

Thanks

I doubt seriously if you're going to find a machine shop that would be capable of converting an open-deck block to a closed-deck design - it would be easier to find a closed-deck block to begin with. That, and looking for 500+ hp from an N20 engine would likely result in seriously-reduced reliability. You'd be better off looking for an N55/B58 engine from a salvage yard that would produce more power without having to modify its internals.

Cylinder support system does it in New Hampshire. Most machine shops can install sleeves and balance components.

Was looking for someone locally/in the area more or less.

Also the n55 is open deck too. B58 is the exception however 25k for a new car instead of have a built motor for maybe 1/5th of that makes sense to me.

I do have a spare block, internals (Cp pistons + rods) in hand. Just looking for a good condition crank and order a new flywheel for the total balance and can send off to a shop...

Yes, but the N55 can produce more power when tuned than an N20. You'd still be better off finding a used 6-cylinder engine, but to each his own.

Try Miami Engines; they just did some custom things for a friends S55.

They're not in Florida, but Billiam Mason or Ali Barakat may be able to help with your goals.
