M3/M4 weight increased in later model years?

I’ve been looking at used M4s, and I noticed that '18 M4 ZCP shows 110kg increase in weight (from 1540kg to 1650kg) compared to the standard '16 M4.

What happened here? Are they really that much heavier?

The M3/4 did become heavier with time, but not by 110kg. I believe the original 1498kg weight advertized by BMW for the M4 was a marketing ploy, where it was for a complete stripper that more than likely does not exist anywhere in the world.

This is an interresting thread on the weight evolution of the F8X:

Thank you for the link.

On the other hand, I'm looking at a few M4 ZCPs with 11/2017 build date. ETK shows both steel and CFRP while realoem only shows part number for steel.

How can I verify that it has CFRP before lifting up?

Pretty close to a complete stripper here, but I have no idea how much it weighs:
2016 6MT, 18" wheels, cloth seats. I suppose the only options are LED headlights and HK audio.

I have one of the lightest specs:

2018 M4 Comp, CCBs, 19s, 6mt, came in at 3540 with a full tank on SCCA scales with some additional race gear in the trunk. Figure remove some fuel weight and race gear from the car and it sits at 3470ish.

Wow, with cloth seats & trim?

I'm going to weigh my M3 soon. Same specs as you minus CCB which IIRC, is 18lbs savings over stock brakes. Also, sunshade installed. Damn, maybe mine will be ~3580. Too heavy.

My M3 weighed in at 3460

6mt, cold weather, adaptive suspension, lighting, regular leather, executive, hk sound. 19s with supersports. no other options.
3/4 tank ~ 12 gallons

Im fairly confident its accurate. My 458 weighed in at 3280 which is about what ferrari claims. ( 11-12 gallons in tank as well)
And it picked my own weight up fine

M4 should be a maybe 40 lbs lighter with only two doors and cfrp trunk lid at the similar spec as an M3.
I will swap seats to the GTS Euro seats soon so it will be intresting to see how much weigh is saved there.

Left.

I'm not sure if I can weigh mine before July, but I'll have time during the 4th to do it.

"Lightest spec" is a relative thing. For the US, it might be "lightly" optioned, but there are many features that are standard in the US, meaning it is not necessarily a "light spec" from a worldwide perspective.

I'm not too informed on what is considered standard equipment in other countries, however the only option my car has that isn't standard is the US is wireless charging. Heck its a comp pac with 19s and CCBs.

That was what I would have expected. All reviews I have read (mentioning weight) did not have a more significant difference between the two.
