F80 m3 stock seat harness solution
Hey guys,
I was wondering if there is a solution yet for running a 4point harness on a stock f80 m3 seat yet? I do about 4-6 trackdays a year and a racing seat is not an option for me. The next best thing I have heard is running a Schroth quick fit harness from an e90/92 m3, but not sure if that's the best option. |

It's very sad that BMW went with a stupid 'one piece' seat to satisfy hard parkers and village idiots.
Losing the ability to run a QFP is a huge deal. Before it was easy for a weekend warrior to take their kids to school and then use a Hans device and have proper support for pulling 1.6Gs Aaaanywho, some people are using the Mini QFP harness but of course that is not officially accepted as a solution Let us pray to the M gods that the G8X generation returns to seats that can use a QFP |

^ LOL I've never heard the term Hard Parker before, but that's very appropriate.

It's annoying because I have a 2k miles F80 CS with the rear seats ripped out for a harness bar and the front seats are the typical race ones with 6 points etc.
Try asking your significant other to come down to the city for dinner in that... not happening! |

Another alternative would be the Simpson Hybrid + oem seatbelt. Downside, you don't feel planted like a 4 or 6pt harness. I've learned to live w it

E90 front seats. Done.
And don't give me the but but but it's going back to inferior car stuff? You want daily seats AND harnesses with a back seat, E90 Seats. T |

That may be an option. I know that Brey Krause was working on developing one, but haven't released it yet. What harness bars are you guys running? Rear seat access is a must for me. |

I also have their seat mounts on both cars I believe the rear seats can be in the car with the BK bar. It dismounts with 4 bolts, it's quite easy. I use the rear seats area to store my spare tires If you want to see the setup you're not too far from me

Does that mean it piggybacks on the seat sliders and factory seat belt mount? That seems less ideal compared to using a cage that’s welded to the frame to anchor the belts and seat that’s direct bolted to the frame without sliders Couldn’t you just weld in a cage and when you are done cut it out and cover things back with carpet and trim? Isn’t that how it used to be with SCCA “showroom stock” racers when it was time to sell them off? |

I'd love to see some pics of this setup also, or even see it in person at some point (if that invitation would be open to me too SYT_Shadow ). I drive through Greenwich every day on my way to work (down round hill rd). That stop sign merging onto the Merritt is like my drag racing tree, one of the more fun parts of my day lol Is there any way to install the harness bar before track days, then remove it after? How much of a pain is the install? Trying to maintain the utility of the back seats for the family, but I am a track junkie and want to get a harness solution working. I'm about to try the cglock on the stock 3pt belt next track event, but a real harness would be ideal. It would be nice not to have to replace the seats... not sure why they didn't put harness slots on these. |

Never knew this existed, I'm gonna check this out! Does it tighten the shoulder belt at all by proxy?

Not really but the lap belt being tight is more than enough. When you get it, I can show you how to install it so it’s temporary and not fixed to your seat belt. The owner of that company told me how to do it. Calls it the hpde instructor method of installation since they need to go into and out of many cars when instructing.

Unfortunately I can't do this weekend. I'll PM you in a week or so and we'll see if we can coordinate a date that works. I really appreciate you showing us the toys.

I've been using the CG lock for a couple of years. It works great as long as you set it up properly, better than great with power seats. I simply move my seat back a ways, lock the shoulder harness with a quick jerk motion then move the seat forward. The belt will pull you tight into the seat as you adjust the seat forward. It's not quite as easy with mechanical seats though.
