Hiding Inner Exhaust Pipe Inside Exhaust Tip

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I plan to purchase 90mm exhaust tips to replace angle cut tips on M4. The style I like are single walled tips like Supreme or ARM. My concern is I want to mount flush (e.g. push back as far as they will go) and I don't want the inner raw pipe to be visible inside the tip.

I was wondering if anyone had wrapped exhaust header wrap (super high heat resistance) around front inch of inner pipe so that it's flush and there's no gap between inner pipe and wall of exhaust tip. The exhaust header wrap comes in different colors (black, silver) so thinking it would fill gap and blend perfectly.

Thoughts. Won't be offended if u say stupid idea but please tell me why it's stupid. Really interested if anybody has tried and could post pics.

Yep. Just thought couple of turns of exhaust wrap at end of inners would be easier than breaking out the hacksaw. But you're probably right. Cut inner pipe and be done with it.

Try spraying the exits flat black before sliding the new tips on. Once the carbon starts to build up inside the tips you won't see them. If that's not good enough there's always the saw...
