The Giulia will be more of a fashion statement which will stand out from the usual Ms and AMGs. Here in Vancouver, BC where these cars are fairly common, the Quadrifoglio will turn heads. Frankly these cars will spend more time parked at the local bubble tea plazas than at parc ferme.
BMW should learn from Alfa in exhaust sound rather than faking it via synthetizers. |

I too did a complete 180 on the f80 after driving the zcp, everything that put me off buying one 2 years ago they had fixed, glad to see these guys did too
My first car was an Alfa 156, and now have an 8C and 4C, i'm very loyal from a brand pov, I've been to the local preview and unfortunately the interior quality just isn't befitting the money they're asking - imo a current top line kia or hyundai has better built trim, but I'm still definitely going to drive one I have an inkling the f80 on the new ps4s will do wonders for the dynamics and comfort on a 30series tyre |

Great result... considering the bmw wears street tires and has 65 less hp, speaks volumes to bmw chassis tuning... volumes

though they did comment on that track being more a handling circuit, you could easily see the alfa accelerate faster off the corners in that side by side comparo |

I thought this thread was a discussion on the Alfa versus the M3 not a M3 with or without the competition package. Like who cares if you've got it or not. Enjoy what you have. I've got a base M3 with 18's and I'm not complaining. The car is amazing.

It's pretty telling that the BMW on lesser grip tires was faster in the corners (Ignition video)

I also know it has historical meaning, but ugly is ugly. Otherwise I liked the styling. Didn't like the interior info screen as they put it under this huge chunk of tinted plastic. It looks a little tacky. The rest of the interior is nicely done. I would lease one instead of getting another F80 M3 just to drive something different.

the only reason the M3 was even a consideration was because the comp pack has completely overhauled the current platform prior to zcp, the f80 wasn't even a contender against a c63 according to the reviewers past tests. the fact a 5k option package can improve a car so much is a bigger story in this video than even the alfa winning it |

Never thought that I will ever see a such comparo.
Owned two Alfa's in Europe and they were both garbage. Literally. Might look better here, or on paper, but boy, what a difference is between them. I just wait for the guys to start to buy them to see the reliability. I am pretty sure that nothing changed. |

It's demoralizing to see how far BMW has fallen. The M3 once owned such a category. How it fares relative to the hyped up new Alfa bothers me less than it's performance relative to MB and Caddy, and even Audi in other comparos.

Entertaining video.
I would love to get out in the ATS for a spirited drive, too bad GM keeps missing the basics such as styling but they're getting the driving dynamics right. I don't understand how Alpha and Maserati can make their 6's sound so awesome and BMW cant figure it out. The excuse is always "but the M3 has a turbo", however so do the Italians. Maybe BMW thinks the M3 sounds good but they just have bad judgement? I have a buddy who likes the taste of cheap wine. If you give him a $50 bottle of wine he doesn't like it. Maybe this is how the M engineers are with motor and exhaust sounds? They just don't "get it"?

It's 2017. Other automakers are catching up and surpassing us in certain segments. It's what was eventually going to happen.

i have to link to this thread for the guys commenting on alfa reliability
the caddy, c63, and m3 are all the same cars that were used in the motor trend comparo.....except alfa had to change out the alfa between takes because of errr reliability lol http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1351835 |

My point is that every car has its characteristics and m3 exhaust note is one of m3's characteristics, its close to impossible to have everything you like in a car...like he stated "there is no such thing as a perfect car" some people buy cars for looks, some for performance, and some for sounds. So I personally think the sound m3 makes is not bad but its an m3! Lol of course if you start comparing yes there are better sounding cars. My buddy bought a c63 just because of the papapapap in the exhaust. But i have to say...i hate the asd in the m3 but again its an m3....

M3 has great numbers but is such a boring car. I don't really care about how it handles at the limit or whatever. In day to day use the Giulia appears to be much more exciting. I'll be checking it out. I passed on the F80 M3 because it wasn't exciting, sounded terrible, and made power like a JB4 N55. I don't get the appeal but I guess hat tip to all you guys insisting that some wheels and a tune "transformed" the M3 in the ZCP.

I want to like the Alfa more than I do but the styling to my eyes is too generic as a profile and the front end is more polarizing than beautiful.
I guess it comes down to what sells you on a car. I personally wouldn't get all wound up on a second here and there for a street car. |
