I posted a $3,000 deposit through a Military Sales program in Qatar back in spring of 2012 and was told that due to this, I will not be affected by the recent price hike.

Recent price hike?

First of all, military prices are not out yet for F8X cars.

Second, you will pay the same amount as the guy who places his order next April. BMW military pricing is set and non-negotiable.

Please prove me wrong, I actually welcome it.

Only the time will tell. Here is what my sales guys told me:

"The pricing for the M4 has not been released as yet, however, because your order has been placed, we will lock-in the introductory price for you.

Not long now and we should receive some info on the new model."

I wonder what this introductory price is? Keep in mind that a lot of those sales guys are sleaze balls so they'll tell you whatever nonsense you want to hear just to make a sale.

I'm configuring my car sometime in January, these guys will not have order guides until the car is unveiled especially when it comes to military discount prices.

I agree, to a certain extent.

If a car has less than 100 miles, I'm good.

If the car can't handle being test driven, I don't want it.

You mean they have despots between $400-$500. I am no expert but I find it very hard to believe that a dealership has nearly 500 deposits on the M4... I know of other dealerships in Southern California that have anywhere from 0 to 12 deposits (YES ZERO)!!!

I used to work for Military Sales in Japan..they can't lock anything in. They can give you and estimated price based on a percentage increase, that's what we used to do and we would go 5%, which it never did but it gave customers peace of mind. Point is Military sales is an excellent program if you can purchase it thru them go for it.

I experienced the price increase first hand when I started the process in 2011. When the 2012 price guide came out the base price had gone up, but there were more standard options. Seems to be the trend. They will NOT lock in a price. He is not telling you the truth.

I agee completely. Having 400-500 deposits sounds like a dumbass salesman trying to apply some pressure to get another deposit.

production M3/M4 are not available for order yet. There is no info whatsoever regarding the regular production M3/M4

All us dealers know at this time is we got to submit how we would like our launch cars configured.

Some of us are fortunate to have such a good sales advisor, with someone who is as much of an enthusiast as ourselves, if not more so. Given that some dealers have launch cars coming doesn't automatically mean that they are letting the entire surrounding area come by and drive the car before you take delivery. As the paperwork above shows (mine does), it states it is customer sold (has my name for my situation), and that car is going to that customer.

Now, some dealers will not be honest or fair, but that is like every industry and it has been this way from childhood to adulthood for these individuals. If you know your sales advisor, have had money down forever, have specified your order to a the finest detail, discussed how and where you want the clear film wrapped placed, there is no reason to believe that this is not your car and that the moment it is delivered you will be picking it up and driving it home.

Bad things can happen to anyone. They sure have with me at other dealerships with other brands of cars. So every one's input on this subject is valid, as there are some bad, unethical dealerships out there. But, there are also some good one's too.

Sounds like the final production car option list is not yet available.

My question is, can a dealer launch car be configured like a fully loaded production car, or will production cars have more options that the launch cars can't be configured to have these options because it will be configured and built a lot earlier than the production cars?

Maybe a dealer or someone who purchased a launch car before can chime in , what past trends were on launch vs production cars. I have a deposit down on the launch car, but I am not concerned. The production cars might have different interior trims , seat stitching and maybe the ability to buy some options standalone but so what. Cant think of much not on the launch order guides I would want anyway. Few months after the production car comes out there will be new and different options available and few months after that and after that.... If we all worried about future changes we would never buy cars!

Look at my F10, few months later the MSport came out, then the B & O sound system, then the black panel display then the LCI then the 704.... Suspension etc. It never ends.

Only thing that would piss me off is if some nicer wheels become immediately available.

The launch cars had a set number of options you can choose from. We haven't gotten the order guides yet to see the exact options.

Went with a friend of mine to test drive a new (at the time) Mustang Gt. Car had six miles on it, he accelerated out of the parking lot cold to about 125 mph. The engine completely hesitated at about 80mph then kicked back in and kept on running. Not sure what that did to the car, but wouldn't consider that a proper break-in. The salesmen was pretty calm through the whole thing, but did suggest slowing down at about 120mph

Do you mind sharing the names of those dealers with 0 deposits? I'm very interested in getting the m4 out of the gate and would like to get the ball rolling.
