Any details on the fix?

Do they plan on replacing your wheels once the fix is available?

My front right wheel has been damaged in two spots and I only have 800 miles on the car.

Damn I'm not looking forward to this... Already need a new windshield (road incident, not BMW design flaw) and only have 300 miles

Been there, done that lol. As soon as my old M3 got home from ED with nary a piece of lint on it, a f'n rock flew into the windshield just below the roofline. Dealer told me how lucky I was with only a $1300.00 windshield to replace vs repairing the CF up top. That revelation didn't make me feel a whole lot better at the time but the rock dent in the hood two weeks later.....and another $1500.00....certainly had me counting my blessings lol. FWIW both of these mishaps put me into "it'll never be the same" mode but after the repairs, couldn't tell they'd ever been done. And I'm absolutely anal about such stuff.

Speaking of which, I'm hoping this info that CSanto's dealer has re a fix is positive. It'll be one less thing to worry about. Scratched/gouged wheels on a 100k car just isn't my thing. 54 days and counting for mine and I think it goes into production mid-May. Fingers crossed.

Ha I'm worried about the windshield never being the same especially with the HUD. I've heard it's never the same after. Taking it to BMW to have fixed so hopefully they do it right! Don't even care how much out of pocket it costs me on top of insurance. On a car this expensive it's just gotta work right!

I may see if ACM can test fit the wheels on a CCB car to see what the clearance looks like - I'm definitely concerned about non-oem wheels getting this same damage and then having zero recourse to get the wheel replaced. If oem wheel is damaged, BMW should cover it, but not if aftermarket.
I am currently running 19in R101's and so far so good. I don't have the exact measurements, but I would say 4-6mm more clearance with these wheels. It's diffecult to tell from this photo but it's all I have at the moment.

Those are great wheels and yes, judging from the pic, looks like a fair bit more room. Wise choice.

Looks great! I ordered BC Forged wheels after reading a lot of positive reviews. I figured they'd be worth a try, but if there are clearance concerns when test-fit I'll give a look at the HRE lineup.

I had my car in for another matter today and I asked about this wheel issue, of which I am a victim. I was told that their BMW regional rep was in last week and made aware of this (my) wheel issue. Apparently their response was that BMW would replace the wheels once with no further consideration, and would require the damaged wheels in return. The only other information I have is that my dealership's regional rep is out of Minneapolis, MN.

The feeling I got was that my dealership is not going to go to bat for me on this, and will require further action on my part. I'm not sure where to go from here.

Here is my car- brand new- only 80 miles. My service managed called the BMW rep who said they haven't heard of an issue - I'm pissed- I spent 100k and have gouges like this. This is BS

Sorry to hear that! It's ridiculous that BMW thought it was okay to work under such tight tolerances.

We did some measurement on the BC Forged 19inch Monoblock Wheel vs the Carbon Ceramic Brakes and started a new thread. (Owners can find it easier, hope it help!)

Almost 600 miles on the clock, both front wheels. I did buy the wheel/tire insurance, so hopefully that'll help if not readily replaced under warranty. That said, given the issues we're having maybe I'll wait it out; build up some damage then replace, build up some damage then replace, etc.

Great No brake dust with CCB's but no one warned us about aluminum and paint dirtying up the wheels. Can't win for losing.

I priced these wheels and they are about 1900 per wheel. 7500 no tires. Although they are a great option, for those not thinking we'd have this issue, and not thinking they'd have to buy new wheels 7500 is a large expense.

OP was supposed to hear back with a resolution this Monday/Tuesday. I'm wondering if the resolution was "we'll paint them" and he didn't accept it so the saga continues. I now am sure my car won't have any fix, as the build is complete, still I don't want to have this be an issue when I finally take delivery. Fingers have been crossed for an engineering solution for weeks now..

Quite frankly no expense or very, very heavily subsidized 20s is my expectation. The wheels already cost $1200 and this isn't normal wear and tear.

Welp, let's see what happens!!

(in the meantime, I'm going to Sharpie the barrel or use shoe polish so it's not immediately evident to my eye)

Next steps

Hi all,
Conclusion: my dealer was excellent batted for me fully......I am putting my Oct 2014 F80 back in and I have now a new build order on a new F80 exactly the same without CCB.......fix not yet announced but it will be 20" on new cars at some time in coming months.......However because our F8x cars have not been homologated with 20" at best it can only be aftermarket retrofit. How many M3/4 with CCB's ....1000+ .....As a wild guess. Can't imagine enthusiasts want the 20's IMO.......I am an enthusiast. Looked around at other stuff this week....RS4, C63, Jaguar, 911 Carrera, even a Macan Turbo!...F80 still makes sense for me!

wow definitely not the answer I was looking to find.
This really sucks. Eventually I will be in the hole another 5k+ because I'll get a set of wheels that will have more clearance. Shame on BMW.
