update - it was a no go, to tight with the 6MT, plus with the 6+ it covers the ac controls. May work well with a regular iPhone 6.
This is exactly what I'm talking about. I tried a lot of options for the cup holder, and found the Belkin the best by far. It's a little more expensive, but don't get lured by the cheaper alternatives.

Also on some of these cupholder options, I'm also concerned like PayamFSU about interference with the stickshift.. I will report back if I have any issues with whatever I end up getting, likely belkin cupholder or iOttie
The iOttie doesn't have a cup holder base. You have to buy that separately. And even then, you can't position the iOttie so it's ideal (for me).

+1 Belkin
Costs a bit more but it feels solid and looks good. Pic of mine with a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (aka...massive phone) and I still have room.

I got the belkin too but I'm still looking for other solutions.

The belkin is great - fits snugly in the cupholder and holds the phone firmly. I sort of want something that is more of a dock right now so I drop it in and it's connected.

Anyone try something like this? http://www.shapeways.com/product/AMN...ionId=55900921

That is awesome, I have had the same proclip holder lying around trying to figure out how to mount it! Thanks! I will also check to see how to route the cable in a hidden way and bring it out from the centre trim. How did you attach the proclip to the kuda, Double sided tape, And does the Kuda stay in place? Ok just saw your post w details, thanks.

I just have the cable tucked away between the seat and the center console, doesn't bother anyone. The ProClip mount is attached to the KUDA mount via four screws (the KUDA mount is hollow). The KUDA is pretty tight in place and has a tab under the trim, you can put some double sided tape inside so it doesn't move but I elected not to do that in case I need to remove it and it doesn't move around, it does get a few mm loose sometimes and I just push it back in place, the ProClip mount does get loose and starts to swivel around so I added a drop of loctite to the middle screw and problem solved.

Is there a good sneaky way to route the USB cable from the center armrest to the cupholder area / mount area, so that we can have USB connectivity?

It would be easiest to plug in to the center console cigarette adapter, but that would be charge only.

[QUOTE=rhk118;18224399]I just installed the Kuda phone mount in my M3 using a Scosche magnetic "magic mount." This setup is perfect for me as the Kuda mount matches the interior and holds the phone at a perfect viewing angle for the driver (so I was able to get a flush mount magnetic mount rather than a "ball and socket" adjustable one which they also make). The magnet holds the phone firmly and it hasn't fallen off, and really easy to mount the phone in any orientation. I also like that this setup doesn't mess with the 6MT in that when shifting into 5th my hand doesn't hit it like it does my coffee mug. Also it doesn't interfere with passenger seat legroom - its out of the way. I have a USB power cord installed into the 12V adapter under the glovebox.

Here's the setup:

Great install rhk118! I believe I said earlier in this thread that the Scosche Magic Mount is the best way to go. But didn't know about the Kuda mount! Looks even better! I have the Scosche mount but with the ball and socket and my only complaint is it's not a perfectly solid mount....meaning the ball and socket feel a bit loose, but only if I grab it and wiggle it (so really it's only me who knows). But I'm going to switch to this Kuda Mount method!

Either way, the Scosche Magic Mount is the way to go. So easy to mount and dismount with the magnetic connection. Don't know why anyone would go with anything else!

And thanks for mentioning that you tried the magnets behind the Kuda, as I was about to post that as a question. Too bad that didn't work. Glad you tried it so I didn't have to

See few posts above. It's a proclip USA for the iPhone, but this install used a double sided tape to fix the proclip on the car's trim while miula's install used another piece to screw the proclip to it.

I'm using this. Can't beat the price and it's perfect for what I want. Keeps the phone stable and at a good angle for Waze. I ran a six foot cable from the center console under the plastic piece that runs almost the drivers side foot well and then in between the two leather pieces of the center console to get full iPhone functionality with no wires showing.

Do you have any more pictures of how you routed the cable? I may do this myself.

Yeah it's really easy. Not totally hidden, but out of the way.

Just run it out of the center console and down between the driver's seat and tuck it into the bottom of the plastic piece that runs along the side into the foot well. Then once you get to the end in the foot well area, run it up and tuck it in where the two leather pieces come together. It stays in nice and tight.

I just ordered this. It's exactly what I was looking for, but am curious about blocking my AC vent in AZ. I also don't like the idea of having a rare earth metal magnet on my phone all the time. I'm going to mount it to the back of my Alpatronix battery case. This should make for a great no wires solution that looks clean. I'll post pictures as soon as I have it installed.

Guys a magnetic vent clip mount just popped up on Slickdeals. $4 w/ free shipping. Looks pretty much like the others out there.

http://slickdeals.net/f/8126086-univ...-free-shipping

worth a shot for a few bucks

Old thread, I know.

This won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I found this at Brookstone. It blocks a vent and covers some speed dial buttons, but gets the phone up higher.

Kenu Airframe

Belkin makes one too.
