Car fax damage no accidents
I have a line on a potentially awesome M3 20k miles / single owner / document dealer maintenance...
Problem is car fax shows two damage events but no accidents. Going to see the car tomorrow. Word from trusted sales guy I have had success with in past was that car was golf & grocery getter for older gentleman who dented it had it repaired and turned it in for something more suitable. Price is adjusted according...thoughts on how / if I should proceed? |

I bought a used M4 this week that has the same exact scenario; damage but no accident.
There’s a couple takeaways from this; if there is no accident report, the chance of an actual serious collision is very slim as that means nobody went through insurance or anything. Usually damage report means a shop noted damage. My damage was fixed thru a BMW dealer with OEM parts who I spoke with prior to purchasing the car. I’d call the previous owners local dealer (service records on carfax) and see what was done etc and if they were the ones who repaired it |

You could potentially pay a body shop to take a look/use a paint meter

Paint meter the entire car to get a better idea. If it was just bumpers you may not know, or care. This carfax thing will only become an issue when you go to sell the car in the future. Just as you are hesitant about buying now, future buyer will also have same doubt. If you get full documentation of the repair now, it will only help you for future.
