Nice try:
Which industries are the largest consumers of cobalt?
The battery industry, aerospace industry, alloy production industry, and the ceramic and glass industry are among the largest consumers of cobalt.

Aware of that fact and agree with the data. Yet, you can't fill up your ICE without using cobalt.

The issues here are the quantity of cobalt but more importantly the use of recycling of cobalt in the automotive and petroleum refineries.
Use of hydroprocessing catalysts is common practice in petroleum refineries for decades and the recycling of the byproducts is very advanced.

I guess the cobalt for gasoline refining is ethically sourced.

How much cobalt use makes a person bad?

What if you drive an ICE and then get a cobalt based hip replacement. Do you only then have slightly poor sleep from the guilt?

If you drive a Tesla with lithium iron phosphate battery tech (1/2 of new Teslas) then you could then look down on anyone driving an ICE with flagrant moral superiority.

There are three ways that cobalt can cause poisoning. You can swallow it, breathe it into your lungs, or have it come in prolonged contact with your skin.
It's not just that Cobalt is poisonous, but where and how it's mined. No regulation and no employee protection. When I spent some time in a lead smelting plant in NY I had to wear a full respirator and body protection.

The way those workers are treated is worse than the way fighting pit bulls are treated. It's disgusting, but I'm sure Greta is happy.

The Tesla Supercharger network is opening up to other EVs. But charging costs extra for outsiders.
Tesla is charging owners of other EVs roughly 35% more per kilowatt-hour (kWh), according to rates listed on the company's app. Supercharging rates vary widely by location and time of day (some stations offer lower prices during off-peak hours), so that's just a ballpark.
At some locations, we observed a premium of closer to 37%, while at others it was as low as 23% during off-peak hours. However, Tesla is also offering a $12.99-per-month membership that grants other EV owners the same pricing that Tesla drivers get. That may be worth it, depending on how much one plans to Supercharge.

Just the other day my gas station told me I would have to pay 20 cents a gallon more unless I bought their membership.
You join the wrong club I only go to Shell gas stations for fill up because I am a CAA member and they charge me 4 cents less per L.

Guilt free cobalt must be (n)ICE. Around half of new Teslas make use the cobalt free battery tech of LFP. So in their eyes you are the body stacker with your cobalt based refined gas.

I wouldn't get to excited yet. In the RC industry we have had LiFe batteries for a long time and now almost no one uses them anymore. Issue is high failure rate after too few cycles. They were mostly used to power transmitters and receivers because they were safer but LiPo still the choice for racing. Also increase in internal resistance and related drop in output voltage. My company no longer carries them.

I'm not even remotely on the left Also, just an FYI, millions have died over the last hundred years as we have fought wars over oil. Cobalt is a niche concern over how many have perished over fossil fuels. But, many are concerned over the DRG and work is being done to reduce the human toll over cobalt mining. We do not live in a perfect world.
