New (Used) F80, Is it lowered? How?
Hi Everyone,
I'm hoping to get some assistance from you well experienced folk on here. I bought a used 2017 F80 ZCP in February and have started to look at some basic mods. First, new wheels / suspension. It appears that the vehicle is already lowered (see pictures) but I'm wondering how this may be. I've looked underneath and the springs are black, I know a lot of aftermarket are different colors. Is there a way I can tell without putting it in the air? TIA - Pictures are of the rear only |

Can you post a pic of the car from afar? Most F80's have a smaller wheel gap in the rear than one might expect. The first time I saw one I also thought it was lowered too

Here is a pic from further away, may not still be the best angle.

Edit: I realize this is a dumb question because MP HAS is also a different color. 🤦*♂️ |

Thanks everyone for the help, I think it's all but confirmed that it is lowered on what is TBD - most likely Eibach. I actually had a set of Eibach Euro v1 in my cart so i'm glad I got some more info.

That is definitely lowered... and certainly not just “modestly” lowered. The front of a stock F80 has a gigantic gap... like almost fist sized gap. Your front looks like it’s lowered by a good 1.5-2”. Much lower than what Eibachs would do. How many fingers gap is there in the front and rear? Looks like maybe 1 finger in front and no gap in rear.

Looks really good! As it should for a lowered car. . There are other brands that have black springs such as Macht Schnell, Swift, Emmanuelle Designs, H&R. They’re likely some brand other than Eibach as Eibachs usually don’t drop that much even after they settle for a while.
How is the handling and ride quality? If they’re acceptable to you, I wouldn’t worry about it and just enjoy the ride. If you’re looking to improve the ride and handling, definitely get some coil overs like KW or Bilstein. Both companies offer EDC compatible coil overs. |
