The new BMW M3 Competition - Austin Yellow

Finally processed the photos of the new 2017 BMW M3 Competition, I picked up in November. Had the car for just over 3 weeks and should hit the break-in mileage this week. With the 18" square winter tire setup.

Austin Yellow looks completely different in different lighting and I was hesitant on the colour - I originally had my heart set on the Yes Marina Blue if i went with the M3 and Long Beach Blue if i went with the M2C. The deal on the Austin Yellow 2017 M3 Competition, with full leather Ultimate Package was too good to pass up and I got to say i really like the colour and am happy with the choice. Only regret is that I wasn't able to get the winter tire and the 20" competition tires in black rims.

Photos are in different lighting on the day of purchase - in the shade and sun close to sunset in a parking lot by the dealership and close to home. The car really takes on a totally different look in the shade, in the sun and at sunset. I had planned on going out to a different location, but unfortunately in snowed for a couple of days prior to my pickup so the roads were slushy so i tried to get a some photos while the car was still clean!

I love this color at sunset. I cruise with one AY F80 and I love the color more and more each time we meet up. Nice buy!

Awesome car. I love Austin Yellow. I had an AY '15 F82 that I leased. Everyone would stop and positively comment on the color. I then leased a ZCP F83 in sakhir orange. I've regretted it since delivery. So much so that I ordered a 19 AY ZCP F82 on Saturday. Seeing your car gets me excited about mine. Can't wait for the return of baby sh!t green to my garage.😀

Get your winter wheels painted black by a professional wheel repair guy/place. It's cheap and high quality. AY needs black wheels all four seasons.

What spoiler and front diffuser is on your car?

I love this color so much and I'm glad to see people out there with it. I have Yas Marina Blue and to each their own, but I think amazing cars like these should be in slightly crazy colors other than white and black and grey.

I am, but I’ve only had it for 6 weeks now and only experienced one really bad day - which was a challenge. I have winter tires, but not the Michelin’s that most people have recommended. I went with the BMW tire and rim package, because I didn’t have time to get ones from somewhere else since I purchased the car in winter. Most have recommended the non-high performance winter tires from Michelin or Nokia). I’ll have a better sense I. January and February when we have more snow.

Thanks, I wasn’t sure about the colour, as I really preferred the Yas Marina Blue, but the price was too good (the blue wasn’t worth an extra $30k to me!!)

Agree about the wheels. It came with the silver 666’s. I would rather get those painted black, than the winters. I have black rims on our Lexus SUV that the wife drives now and they are impossible to keep looking good with the amount of slush we get. I have the standard diffuser/spoiler that comes with that come with the competition package.

I agree. Yas Marina blue was the colour I wanted as well, but they had a white/sakhir orange and a Austin yellow/black that were $30k off. I absolutely hate white and had a black car from 1998-2018 and did not want a other black car. I think from the standard colours, AY would be my second choice, although I do like other blues similar to the yas Marina better.

The "black" 666s are really a two tone gray/dark gray combo. I have them on my F83 and they look pretty clean even when dirty and with a lot of brake dust. Plus, Austin yellow looks pretty clean even when pretty dirty. Enjoy the ride.

Forgot this, the wheel guys can make your 666s look just like the black 666s. Just ask the dealer for guy who repairs their wheels.

Interesting, in my 18 years of rwd bmw ownership I've either had beater cars of used Blizzaks on my cars in the winter. Rarely have I actually drove in deep snow (4-6"). On my f30 335 xdrive I have blizzaks and it's a beast for now! Would hate to compromise but the f80 is calling! Lol
