Any follow on to this - F87 M2 (N55) support?

Obviously I expect the M2C to be supported with this since it will come with an S55.

So you're writing a file to the ecu, vs flashing the ecu is that correct? Can you go into more detail on this and the pros to it?

Cheers!

It’s not something we have in place but it’s possibly something we can implement in the user software eventually.

The m2 will certainly be supported but only after we launch the OFT for M3/4 and M5/6. We tend to take our time when it comes to OTS map development which is why we purchase cars for development instead of borrowing customer cars. This year alone, we purchase an M5, M3 and an AMG GT S. Next up will be an M2

Writing to the ECU is just another term for flashing the ECU. Same thing 👍

Copy, but you're saying the flash counter isn't affected and the new written file for all intents and purposes appears to the computer as an OEM file

Correct. The OFT’s write/flash process resets the counter and also sets the CVN to stock value (even if the tune is still written on the ECU.) The OFT even displays even CVN number so this is easy to verify.

Hey,

Thanks for the prompt reply!

Please keep it in mind.

I know you sell these for many platforms, but it would truly be special to boot your OFT up and have your car appear
on the screen.

It would not be cool to sell these to the BMW community and have these boot up to a "Toyota" or "Honda" image.

Cheers!

Currently, all our OFTs boot up with a professional shot of our Ferrari 458 crossing the Golden Gate Bridge.

And just clarifying one more thing, just so I understand, all of the tunes are preloaded so if you want to change maps on the fly it's just as simple as plugging in the OFT tablet. No downloading or internet etc

Tune files will be preloaded on the OFT. There is always a chance that a customer will have a calibration file that isn't in our database. If this the case, no tune files will be generated. So all the customer will need to do is email us the calibration code and we can build OTS files and email them back (usually within 24hrs).

Upon flashing back to stock, will it throw a tamper code if the dealer decides to investigate ECU in case of serious warranty work?

I'm pretty sure all tunes is detectable if BMW wants to investigate.

is it actually possible with the access you have to fueling tables?

Anything is possible with enough time and development resources. But it may be some time before we see a true flex fuel solution for the MEVD 17.2 ECU.

Shipping to the UK or have you worked out a UK distributor?
What am I doing at 3am? I'm testing the robustness of the ECU write procedures both our F80 and F10. Tomorrow night I will be testing the automatic OTS tune file generation and databank search functions. Just because the OTS tune files are mostly done, doesn't mean we don't have many things to test/refine before public release later this month. During the days we are usually test driving, on the dyno or answering emails We try to sleep someone in the middle.

We ship OFTs all over the world, everyday. So no problem shipping to UK directly.

With out giving up too much of your developmental resources, can you share some of the known hurdles or road blocks to a true flex fuel solution?

Is it software side or interoperability/lack of hardware?
