Going from an F10 M5 to an F80 M3
Hi everyone,
Just bought a 2015 F80 M3 and traded in my F10 M5. Here's the rundown of the story: - Was in Atlanta visiting family, had been getting a little bored with the M5, wasn't enjoying it as much as I used to (too big, not fun to toss around IMO and it was getting close to needing some major services (tires, brakes, clutch etc) - Ended up working out a deal when I went into the dealership with no intention of even buying a car - I show up this past Saturday to pick it up a week after placing the deposit, and 5 min before I arrived they let me know it was throwing a CEL due to waterpump failure - Went to go check out the car in the shop, spoke with the M tech, who was very friendly (pointed out door dings and curb rash and told me that I should ask the dealership to address) - Dealership provided me a new X5 loaner to drive back to Charlotte, NC and agreed to address all the issues with the M3 and deliver it to my door rather than having me come back again to Atlanta Hoping they don't take too long! I'll post pics as soon as I can. Last edited by sakiv; 12-11-2018 at 08:18 PM.. |

You are going to enjoy the F80 M3 so much more. The F10 M5 is heavy and you really can’t toss it around as quickly. I was planning on doing the switch from an F10 535i to an F10 M5 but after driving the F80 M3 it was a done deal. Lol

M3 is so much more manageable in terms of maneuverability and useable performance. If I ever go back to a M5, it would be because I have a long highway commute. |

I went from a F85 X5M to my 6MT F80 M3 and don't miss the X5m at all. Yes the M3 isn't as luxurious but if you enjoy "driving" you forget about all that.

As I get older, I'm learning that HP and power is not all that matters. If you can't use it where you drive, then whats the point? I'm hoping the F80 gives me a better experience of city driving. |

I went from an M6 vert to an M4 vert and no regrets either. I prefer the smaller size and the power is almost similar (less hp and t, but 300 pounds lighter). Only things I miss are larger iDrive screen and bigger trunk even with the top down.
