Winter tyres for 437M 19" OEM wheels (black)

I have picked up my F82 yesterday morning. I ordered it with the 437M wheels in black and it came with the Conti's summer tyre. I have the CCB's.

Because I live in Belgium near the German border I am going to order next week winter tyres.

The car is a lease and the lease company requires me to swap the summer tyres with the winter tyres and vice versa using the OEM wheels. Ergo I am looking for a good winter tyre.

It ocassionaly snows in Belgium but not so much where I live in the North East part of Belgium, it rains a lot however. So I am looking for a winter tyre for driving around in temperatures from -5 to 10 degrees celsius (23 to 50 degrees fahrenheit) . I will not really be driving a lot in snow because when it snows the roads are cleared using road salt (sodium chloride). I have to be ocassionaly in the Ardennes and in Germany where there might still be snow on the road.

I was thinking about ordering the Michelin Pilot Alpin. I guess in the front 255 / 35 R19 96V and in the back 275 / 35 R19 96V.

Are there better alternatives? I have read good reviews on the Brusgestone Blizzak but they don't fit. Then there are the Pirelli Sottozero 3 which come in a variety of sizes and so do the Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Since you won't be driving in a lot a snow, that is what I would go with. The Pilot Alpin is a good choice for your conditions.
Here in Québec, I went with Blizzak LM-32 on my stock wheels.
255/35 up front and 275/35 in the back.

Thx! Michelin Pilot Alpin was ordered through a tyre center nearby. Will be delivered in a couple of days.

Good choice! You can never go wrong with Michelin!

Here's a review someone did on these: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1059286

Do I have to run the staggered setup of two different sizes or is there a good size that I can run on all 4 tires?

So far the only brands I know of are the:
Bridgestone Blizzaks
Michelin Aplins
Pirelli Winter Sottozeros

Are there any other tires out there I should be aware of?

AFAIK the Michelin Pilot Alpin will be 255 wide in front and back on the 19" OEM wheels.

So just to confirm, I can run a 255/35/19 square on OEM 19's (due to CCBs)? The rear won't be stretched too much on a 10" wheel?

Next Wednesday I will get 255 in front and 275 in the back. I do believe that you can run 255 in front and back but I would not do it because in the winter you typically want as much grip as possible, I thought that stretching can be done up to 7 centimeters (2.7").

You can run 255 all the way around.

I have the Blizzaks, 255/275. Works great.

I live in your area.. I think it's the best set up. I'd rather have a wider rear being that we could only get a total of 4" all winter.

Or, of course we could get 5 feet. Hit or miss here.

Did you end up running a 255/35 square setup on your 437M's?

Interested in this as well.

I was leaning towards 255/35 all around. Tire Rack says the PA4s will be in stock on 10/2.

I'm worried 255's would stretch a bit on the OEM rears. That said, anybody having trouble sourcing winter tires? Been looking for Michelin Alpin PA4's and they're back ordered. Now, looking at Pirelli Winter Sottozero Serie II or the Dunlop Winter Sport 3Ds.

I'm really torn. Either 255 hakapilita R2 all around or Pirelli Sottozero 255/275.

The hakas perform great in snow (had them on my 330i), but not sure what to expect about what the driving experience will be like with 255 on the rear. 90% of driving won't be snow, but when I do it snow it will be on mountainous roads.

The Pirellis are a perfect fit and will likely not have much compromise for performance on non snowy days, but not sure if they will keep me going when the snow hits. I like the fact thiese the tires will fit and not leave me longing to get the summers back on performance wise.

The hakas will probably cost me 1600 and the Pirellis 2600.

Any advice or experience would be greatly welcome.

No, they don't.
The 640M and 641M winter setup from BMW are 8.5" in the front and 9" wide in the rear for the M3/M4.

I went with the 245 X-ice as part of the group buy. I hope it's not too narrow. we'll see how it goes i guess

Sorry. Not the best picture. But here's a 255/35 19" Kuhmo on the factory 10" rear. A slight stretch, but nothing ugly

I had Bridgestone Blizzaks on my 335i - they was too soft. I would not use them on M3 for sure.

They're pretty small, 14" to 17".
