Transmission mounts for 6sp manual?

Folks I've experienced this several times, 2nd gear can be hard to find when downshifting under load (on track). I think the tranny moves around too much.

Does anyone know of any upgraded mounts? Thanks in advance...

Bumping an old thread again, looks like there is finally an option available. I think I would just go with the harder ones, but I completely agree, the stock mounts are way too soft and not meant to be driven too hard.

I thought my transmission was broken when I experienced this on track, but after awhile I figured it was just the way it is.

Would these bushings help? Also what would it do in regards to NHV?

Bumping an old thread. Has anyone used the ECS mounts? I bought a set but I talked to a shop that has installed them and both times the owners came back to swap back to stock mounts due to harshness. Any input yet?

Are they the street/track 70A ones? Or the stiffer 80A track ones?

I've had this problem with my M2C and AutoSolutions SSK, and thought it might be related to the bushings on the SSK. Looking forward to hearing whether the stiffer trans mount bushings solve the problem.

I bought the CAE shifter and now my issues are solved. I can go into gear without any issues.

Guys. To solve all of your issues Look up Rogue Engineering mounts. They use stiffer rubber than stock and softer than polyurethane. I just installed these and can say they are stiffer than stock and I do hear a faint hint of Tranny noise, but its not over bearing and the Crisp shifter feel plus reduced movement of the transmission when driving overpower any faint noise I may hear. I daily drive my M so its not a garage queen. Just looking at the design of the stock mounts I'm surprised BMW decided to use something this flimsy on an M car. The new mounts are much more robust and do a great job of keeping the transmission in place without sacrificing much if any comfort.

I had the red ECS street mounts and the vibrations from 2.5k to 3.5K RPM's were unbearable so i took em out. I can deal with transmission noises but is there any added vibrations with the rogue engineering mounts?

Yes sir no vibrations like many felt with ECS yet stiff enough to keep the trans in one place unlike stock. They have literally made a huge difference in how precise my shifts are now and made shifting a bit less notchy. I also have an auto solution ssk so maybe the change was more noticeable to me than for someone with a stock shifter? Either way one of the cheapest and best upgrades. Took about 30 minutes to install.

Installed the ECS transmission mounts yesterday before finding this thread, yeah not good for a daily driver. The car feels and sounds like a rally car. Crazy amount of vibrations and noise at all RPM in all gears.

Ordered the RE mounts to try next and will report back here with a comparison, having experience with both aftermarket options. After seeing how squishy and compliant the OEM mounts are, not happy with BMW at the moment.

ECS mounts do fit perfect and they are very well made. Just way too harsh.

They would bring no benefit in a DCT since the gears are shifted by actuators, not a mechanical lever in the cockpit. The issue we are trying to solve for manual cars is that of the transmission moving around under heavy acceleration which makes finding the shift gates more difficult. That is not an issue with the DCT where you flip a paddle to shift.

Its easy. Remove the underpanel. You need to support the transmission. Remove the bottom nuts on the mounts. Remove the tranny brace. Loosen the top nuts on the mounts and they slide out. Remove the nuts on the top when the mounts are out of the car(much easier). When installing, tightening the top nuts is the last step. Let the weight of the transmission rest on the mounts unsupported by a jack before tightening the top nuts.

I had some UUC isolated red tranny mounts(i believe they replaced the color with blue now) left over from my E36 and used them on the F80. They barely caused an increase in NVH. The key is to not overtighten the nuts on the top. It should be slightly more than hand tight.

I dont know the construction of the ECS bushings. Is it one stud going through the bushing? is it two individual studs? If its one stud bolt thru, you are going to have NVH. If its two, you can greatly limit it by how you tighten the top nut.
