Custom Hyper Silver Richland Forged GT-4 (763M style) wheels installed!

After seeing other posts of these wheels, I called Lyle in mid-April to inquire about getting them in a bright silver. We went back and forth over email and arrived at a color that the plant would try out for the first time on these wheels. It's called "hyper silver" and is a 2 stage process with a black base coat and silver top coat. This gives the color an almost 3 dimensional liquid metal look -- much more dramatic than a traditional Wurth silver.

7 agonizing COVID-delayed weeks later, they finally arrived. The color -- and the wheels in general -- did not disappoint.

Fitment:
2017 ZCP
Eibach Euro V1 springs front, stock rear
F: 20x9.5, +22, 265/30 MP4S
R: 20x10.5, +35, 295/30 MP4S
*the new 11" rear was not available at the time I placed my order

I guess I'm old school in that I still like silver wheels -- especially on a dark car. This particular silver really pops against the MG paint. Forgive the pics below as the sun did wash them out more than I would have liked.

Oddly, the 295's rub *slightly* on the plastic fender lining over large bumps. Given the stock rear ride height, that was a bit of a surprise. I actually wanted to put 285/30 so the sidewall profile matched the fronts better (the 295 is very square on a 10.5" rim and probably is the cause of the rub), but as you all know, the 285 MP4S are on back order and I did not want to wait. The new 11" with 295's match the sidewall profile of the front better.

I'll probably switch to 285's at my next tire change, or sooner if the rubbing becomes more of an issue.

These wheels completely change the look of the car. Couldn't be happier.

Any idea on how this finish compares to the standard tinted clear?

They are apples to oranges -- very different from each other.

Another example why silver is always the best wheel color.

Looks great!

I just bought the same car and wheels a couple weeks ago only it has the tinted dark finish. Any rubbing issues on the fronts? I have 275's with a significant amount of rubbing. Hoping switching to 265's will clear it up.

Front 20 x 9.5 ET+22 275 30 20 PS4
Rear 20 x 11 ET+38 295 30 20 PS4

Nope, just the rear. The 295s rub over big bumps for me.

They look awesome, I'm also a fan of lighter colour wheels. Black just gets hidden a bit too much.

This guy's got taste, his M3 looks brilliant I love it I tend to wear my liking of silver wheels and dislike of black or dark wheels like a badge of honour and freely admit that I'm not fashion conscious. Silver wheels aren't fashionable or cool, but they sure look awesome on dark coloured cars. Funny "brushed clear" that's essentially silver is gaining popularity and that looks good too from a distance.

It's great that Richland would do it, as most wheel manufactures wont.

Not Richland but I painted my 763M's silver on Mineral Grey and looks magic I think!

BMW paint code A55 is hyper silver. It's the colour of the 359M E9x ZCP wheels and is a 2 stage colour process with final clear coat is how my 763M's were re-painted.

I think 295 20's are too tall to get the "flush look" and needs less wheel offset to be scrape free. Serious tyre width on the rear is best achieved with 19's.

Maybe they're not popular right now, but all I know is I tried selling my dark gunmetal metallic TE37s last year in pristine condition, and it took 6 months and I got 66% return from retail price.

By contrast, 2 weeks ago I sold my Hyper Silver Advan GTs, a very similar wheel, within 2 days of listing them, and got 85% of retail price.

Nothing beats silver wheels, they're classic and never go out of style.

Thanks for the compliment. Great minds think alike.

I would have preferred the 285's in the rear, but they're on eternal backorder and I just couldn't wait any longer. Will probably swap them out once they are back in stock.

Yes, they're nil stock in Australia too and I ended up buying a set of Bridgestone S007A's to retain a 285 and for a street tyre, they're pretty impressive so far

Nice wheels.Time to get some cquarts ceramic coating on them to make it super simple to clean. It will save you a lot of scrubbing time!

Yup. I coated them prior to installation and installed the Euro Akebono pads, so hoping the dust won't be a huge problem.

Your car looks incredible! Im also on the side of silver wheels on a dark car. Black wheel color makes the design disappear. It looks so good I placed my order for the exact wheels in hyper silver yesterday. Now the wait begins.

As a follow up, I just switched to 285/30 in the rear and all is well.

I’m loving that color wish I could see it next to brushed tinted dark.
