Fun M3/M4/M Driving in COVID Time
So, what fun stuff did you do with your M cars while locked down due to COVID? I'm on the East Coast (best coast) of the US and I went foliage searching with the M and other modes of transportation I have been blessed to have.
This is my first M car (MY18 M3 ZCP) and I love the heck out of it. I don't let the car sit in the garage waiting for some glory day - I just drive it. COVID essentially stopped my summer travels, so I had to look for other ways to have fun with the vehicles I have been blessed to have. Three really fun COVID free Saturday trips in the ZCP this summer were to Virginia wineries, from Maryland, and they were absolute fun with my lovely wife. Pretty much 98% of the citizens of VA, MD and DE drive on the left lane - having fun with the M3 on the right lane is perfectly OK. We also did the Skyline drive in VA - spectacular if you plan the drive during peak foliage. Point is that between COVID and all the politics, all of us are likely hyper stressed out at this point. Don't hesitate to take the M out and have some fun. |

Back in March/April, when NYC went on lockdown, it was pretty nice cruising the highway/ring road around the city with no traffic at all. Those weeks of empty roads and streets were definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Unfortunately the speed cameras were still turned on though, as I unfortunately discovered |

I’ve managed 15 track days in 2020, 13 since restrictions have been lifted.
I did 7 track days in 6 weekends, woooo! 4 more days scheduled this year. So yeah, trying to stay healthy and alert.

Angleton at MSR Houston.
Austin at COTA, Circuit of the Americas. PM me if you want to know the wrong crowd. There are a bunch of clubs, and some have really good instructors.

I'm in queens and just got my 18 F80, was without a car during lockdown in March/April. But now that I found my car, I've been finding every excuse to take it out. Will be saving up for a crankhub job and stage1 tune after that.

Car sat pretty much all summer in the garage. When the opportunity to take a week of driving somewhere popped up, the M3 was the obvious choice. I did an oil change, mounted 2 rear PSS's and had an alignment before my wife and I took a 6 day spontaneous road trip.
Central Florida to Mt. Pleasant SC for a cars and coffee. The lowlands in South Carolina coming into Charleston are absolutely beautiful. Then off to Charlotte NC to see our daughter. 59F degree mornings I could really hear the turbos spool up with aftermarket Intakes. Bumped into a new to him 996 Turbo owner, got a good look at some more 996/997's at another meet. Then up to Norfolk Virginia to see our oldest daughter. Headed home sight seeing The Outer Banks, Savanah Georgia, and Jacksonville Florida. 1700 miles and she purred like a cat. Having 4 doors and a decent sized cabin makes me appreciate the F80. |

didn't drive much until June but then local BMW club chapter started doing tours again so it was nice to get out and go on driving tours with fellow car enthusiasts.
