Should I get an M4?

I know this is not the right place to be asking this question but I guess I am looking for an excuse to just get one.

I currently drive a 2017 330i and have had my mind set on a number of cars including the C63s, M4 , M3. Recently found one that I cannot get out of my head... Clearly there will be more power but is the car substantially better/ different than a 3 series?

For anyone that is currently in an M3/4 do you have any regrets and is there any other car you would rather have.

The G80/82 really does nothing for me as I believe the styling sucks(IMO). So the new M platform isn't really an option and the future C63 is rumoured to be 4 cylinder. Maybe I make the move and jump into this M4?

Anything I should look into. I am looking into a 2017 ultimate Package. It doesn't have the updated headlights but this doesn't bother me...

Thanks

Drive one they are an awesome platform to make your own. Very different from a standard 3 series...more powerful and just a lot tighter everywhere. Can be a great daily or track tool depending on if/how you want to build/spec it. C63 and M3/4 are quite different though, so drive both and see what you like. If sharp inputs and handling (and the ability to be a great track platform) is rewarding to you then the M is the way. If pure daily driving, luxury, and between the lights / highway pull speed is more rewarding to you, the C63 will be a better choice. Just based on driving and riding in multiple iterations of both cars.

Test drive it, see if you like or it. If you enjoy driving and sharp responsive handling sounds appealing to you, you'll enjoy it.

If you just enjoy acceleration but don't want to sacrifice comfort maybe you'd like a C63 more.
Not that the M4 is uncomfortable, IMO it's just a tad harsher than a regular 3 series but that's part of the fun really.

They are significantly different from the base 3/4 series. I have a 335 and wanted to get an m4. The bug only got worse until I finally caved. It's worth it the raw feeling of the m4 is significantly different than that of the base 3/4 series. I also looked as c63s but couldn't get passed the crappy interior infotainment system. I recommend giving it a test drive first. Be warned you will want to buy it even more after

Go for it. There are great deals to be had on an f82. I’ve driven f32s and the f82 is worlds about. I’ve own 2 different f82 since 2017 I’ve never looked back

Great advice above and I might add - become familiar with the driving dynamics settings. Probably wouldn’t recommend traction control completely off but definitely experience MDM mode. It still kills a bit of power but should keep you safe. Oh, and if driving DCT, enjoy the second gear pull!!

Drive it, Drive it hard. If you don’t dream about it you don’t need to buy it.
I’m on my second F82. Had a 2015 6MT now a 2019 DCT. These are great cars!

I say go for it if funds are there.. my only regret is not getting a Porsche(completely different beasts)., with that said after owning mine... I love it.. its truly a car enthusiast sports car - so. YES!!!!!! GO FOR IT!!!!... I guess ill have to just save more to get that Porsche cause I'm keeping this baby till the end.. Definitely worth the money! This M is a different experience..

And I say think twice on that headlights.. cause I was once thinking the same.. ehhh??? but now I'm like.. I wish I would've picked up an LCI (might be a mod in the future for me)

C63 is better in only 1 way - engine/exhaust sound.

F8x platform is great and nothing really out there better for the $$$.

I have had 2 F80s.

Yes. M cars feel, sound, handle, and look very different than a regular 3 series. To me, they feel every bit worth the increased price over even a 340i Msport let alone a 330i. If you want a very high performing, fun, do almost all things car, the M3/M4 are it. You won't be disappointed.

Just go drive one. Then come back with your perspective.

One thing to keep in mind, is your use case. If you just don't have time for canyon drives, track days, etc., a car like the M4 is less appealing. m340i will be more than adequate.

The M340i is much better at getting you through stop and go traffic, lower insurance cost, no M tax, better fuel economy, much more compliant suspension.

None of this matters if you value performance above cost/comfort.

Make sure when u test drive - put it in Sport + mode and if DCT, put in most aggressive mode. Then experience what makes M3/4 different than 3series.
