Yeah, and what did that forthrightness brought me? The idiotic horsepower discussions? Newbies getting confused by the difference between re-engine and LCI? I can play my cards much better, like here - I'll be much happier if I can score a bottle of good cognac or scotch instead of having to fight those pointless arguments.

There's always a way.

Moreover, the thing that started it all two years ago is available again. Imagine my surprise.

Well at this point you aren't going to get anyone to take a bet.

So how about just telling us what you've discovered?

Hmm, intriguing. So, 7MA is obviously ZCP. The 21T would be steering related if I am not mistaken, which would be consistent with the M5/M6. No idea what 7MN is.

But all that aside - MY2016? Call me stubborn, but I am still having a hard time believing that.

Tell me, do you think what everyone has been calling GTS spy shots could actually be ZCP?

I'd love if MY2016 get zcp after all the comments made that there is no chance in hell. Actually I'd love it solely because as an enthusiast I want cars currently on sale, any brand, any type to be as good as they can be independent of what I drive. Do it BMW!

Oh my. I actually meant to go place my deposit for a MY2016 F80 today, but the snow slowed me down.

Wasn't the F10 M5 7MA pretty much a surprise until just a couple of months before reveal? And it came with the F10 LCI, too.

Maybe BMW wants to hurry up with a Competition pack M3 because the C63s AMG seems like serious business.

Since the zcp rumours has flared up once again, here's a recap from Jason's M5 7MA post:

Power increase by 11kW (15HP) to 423kW (575 HP)
• Stiffer stabilizer (anti-roll) bars
• Stiffer and lower suspension (shocks and springs) (10mm lower than standard M5).
• Stiffer front axle bushings
• Active M Differential with a unique tune for the competition package for improved traction
• New hydraulic rack-and-pinion steering with the M-specific Servotronic function with A MORE DIRECT PROGRAMMING to improve agility during cornering
• M Dynamic mode (MDM) of DSC tuned with higher thresholds of intervention
• New 20" M light alloy wheels
• Sport exhaust with black chrome tips

Pretty nice stuff and I'd probably have ticked the option if it was available when I bought. I'm happy with the suspension, differential, power and DSC I got though. I would have liked the black tips and I'm curious about steering improvements and of course the wheels since the E90 ZCP wheels are superb looking for that car. The M5 7MA wheels aren't anything special though.

21T is wheels. Similar to ZCP on F10 - it's 7MA and the wheels option. I don't know what 7MN adds to 7MA.

VIN character 10 is "G".

No idea about GTS.

Regarding the potential misidentification of the GTS - can someone with a better eye guess the wheel size on those "safety car" M3s?

Not sure about the safety car but what's been looking like the GTS had a wing spoiler and really wide rubber, like 305s or even wider if I remember right.

Edit: maybe not wider than 305 but pretty wide looking here in the track pictures:

M4 Concept and M4 Iconic Lights concept have 20" wheels. I don't think 21T is that though since different wheel size doesn't get a new Style number

I don't think ZCP would be tested this much. Also, GTS and CRT are definitely in the works and that "Safety Car" looks mike a GTS than any ZCP.

Also it's likely to come with higher prices, either directly from BMW or indirectly by dealers temporarily holding a pricing line for new model year arrivals.
YAWN
If a competition pack is coming, I remove my yawn. That would be a reason to wait for 2016. Still won't change anything for me as my schedule is now pretty much locked in for July ED. Oh well.

I just think it's common sense for a ZCP to be '16 M3/M4 and can be seperate for any LCI. Think about it. The C63 is available in two trims C63 & C63S.

A ZCP a on the F8X would probably address four things most people criticize the F8X: bump in power + 40, better exhaust, larger wheels & tweaked MDM and slightly lowered suspension. HUD standard on ZCP. Do three of the four above and the M will smoke the C63 all day.

Well, the comp package for '16 is what I'm waiting for. Comp package for M5 is night and day difference from the base.

The sport exhaust would be in between base and M performance exhaust though,so not sure it would still sound "as good" as the C63s. Honestly, the M3 and C63s and turbos in general just sound bad to me.

If the competition package were an option tomorrow, I still wouldn't buy it. Had it on my e92 and truly did not think it was a big a deal (for a DD at least). I got it mostly for the 19" ZCP wheels and CF roof. My f80 has both. Done and DONE!

Unless they bring something totally unique this time around. And no, a wing does not count!

I have not even seen a C63 or C63S coupe yet. When are they do out to force this on the M4 under your rationale?

Who complains about the car needing a bump in power?? I thought it had too much to control? Thats the complaints I read in the vs section.

Well they sure test the hell out of all of their LCI's, and most of the time those have little to nothing in the way of mechanical updates (though this time it happens that the 335i will get a new engine).

I agree that the M4s we've seen with the rear wing look almost surely to be a GTS model (again, just like last generation). However, if the ZCP is really coming for MY2016, it would be surprising if spy photogs capture nothing before the release. So I am expecting to see some more subtle M4s (and M3s too, though it might be difficult to distinguish those from a normal LCI test car) testing soon with "werkstestwagen" stickers on the rear at least, if not necessarily with the ZCP wheels. Perhaps the spy shots are already out there, but no one has paid them any attention because we were not expecting anything this soon.

A factory power bump is always nice. Given that the M5/M6 competition package featured this, and the fact that it is relatively easy to add power to a turbo charged engine, it's a safe bet that the M3/M4 ZCP will follow suit.

Well, I guess it depends on the bump. Will it be 15hp? 50hp? IMO, most any car north of 400hp would require that "bump" to be pretty significant in order for it to be appreciated.

At any rate, I think most would agree that the f80 does not have a power problem. A modest ZCP power increase would mostly serve the "bragging rights" purpose, but not a whole lot more.
