Hey guys,
I know there's a million + threads on this, I've already browsed. Didn't seem to find/understand a solid outcome. It's finally time to replace the tires on my 2016 M4, wheels are stock 19" 437m's. A few things I'm looking for are - more traction with out sacrificing too much handling, thicker tires to fill in the wheel gap (stock suspension/no spacers). Completely understand I can't have all of these without sacrificing one or the other, so let's focus on the best setup for traction/handling. Stock tires just aren't sufficient enough IMO. I look forward to hearing your options, thanks! |

RE-71r’s in 285/35 rear and 265/35 front should give you what you’re looking for. A little taller sidewall all the way around and very sticky when they get some heat in them. You should be happy running those.

One of the best things I ever did for my car was replacing the stock PSS with PS4S. They are better overall, but significantly better in the wet and at cooler temps. You can't go wrong with a set of these.

I have 18s, so I wasn't able to try the PS4S, but I decided to try Continental ExtremeContact Sport 265 front/285 rear. Cannot believe the difference. No more 1st/2nd gear traction control intervention, car is so much quicker now. I don't know if the OEM MPSSs handle better, but they're garbage compared to these new Contis in a straight line. Cannot confirm if it's due to extra width, or added weight of the tire, but it's like a completely different car now.

I have abt 5k on them right now and have 6/32 all the way around. I do 5k a year myself so I’m thinking 10-12k on the set. They’re a softer compound than the stock tires so expect the lifespan to be less. But the grip is phenomenal when they get up to temp.

For the street, get re71r. Nothing else, not even PS4S will compare in dry traction. I actually just got them for the rears 285/35, and got PS4S 265/35 in the fronts (I don't care about matching front/back)

How is that working out with RE71r in the rear? My PS4S in rear (295 35 19) have 10k miles and are pretty much done. Traction was much better than PSS but still not enough, need more grip still.. Was thinking of going wider rims instead of compound change on tires.. |

They're working out awesome! Will probably get 12k out of them daily driving. NVH isn't any worse than the PSS that were on before. Tuned at stg1, the traction light barely comes on in 1st/2nd in MDM mode |

265(M0)-295(*)/35R19 PSS ... surprised no one referenced that winning combo, https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1089535
Read first post only, poll was never updated with that combo. |
