Crank hub fix

My crank hub is fine i am looking to run more power
Does anybody know of a good shop to install a vvt crankhub
I called a shop today I was Quoted $5000 to have one installed that’s
With parts and labor I think it’s a bit much if you ask me
I am running E85 midpipe and dp setup now I love it
But I don’t wanna have a ticking time bomb 💣

So if anybody in the tristate area let me know thanks

i think 5000 is too much. The parts are about 800 USD. The time to replace seems to be around 15-22 hours of labor from what I've read.
at 5 grand with lets say 20 hours of labor you're looking at 210$ an hour.

Crank hub capture bolt is so it don’t back out because the Theory is that people speculate That the bolt
Backs out and that’s why it slips but Truth of the matter is when you make a lot of power it’s like a clutch it slips

No, Crank Bolt Capture is not a 100% complete solution. Identical questions and current discussion are in this thread: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1561598

Here’s a coupon I found from Meineke. $69 bucks an hour for labor should bring the price down a bit.

5000 is excessive but why be cheap when you're dealing with something so important? You rather pay a bunch of kids or inexperienced techs to install it and then pay even more down the line?

I would go based on the hours required, it's confirmed 25-30 hours depending on which kit you source

I think the going rate around california is 2500-3k for labor from a legitimate shop....

well AC got me for the 5k for the install of the first gintani crank hub. we are doing all the rest of them here in house from now on. after my go around with AC in NJ I was pissed to say the least. they made up for some of the issues but I still lost 2 days dealing with them over this project. I have now taken the car up to turner and had the car "properly tuned" and the junk they installed and I truly did not want in my car removed! JB4' on top of this I was told that after the install of this item it was now going to conflict with my Awron gauge I had bought from them also. thanks guys.

anyone want a new JB4?

It’s not about being cheap but 5k to fix a crank hub is nuts that’s like 170 a hour at that point I’ll sell the car
And go get me a 911 turbo call it a day and I’ll the 5k
And put inter coolers and make a monster from that

I went with the gintani solution because I personally think one piece design is better than multi piece. Ssr performance did my install and I paid 3600 for it, they quoted me 3200 for the maximum psi because part is little cheaper. 5k is definitely way too much.

Wow. I told them gintani charge 3600 and asked if they can match it and install few other parts for free. You gotta negotiate your way down haha.

Gintani based in LA and they charge 3600 for labor and parts. It's probably better for our SoCal guys
