That car looks too much like the i3, just blown up in size and with a… different front end.

I wouldn't buy it, but I think it looks good and aligns well with BMW's current design direction.

With regards to what Chris Harris said, I can't say I actually completely agree with him on this. Granted he is exposed to a lot of cars daily but UK wise, I don't think so considering the road in UK and the size of the G8x cars. Not to mention cost and pandemic problems.

Just more anecdotal, impressions from around the world. I'm at 5x 992 GT3, 6x G8X over the same period. (And 4 Sennas... for good measure.)

Size isn't an issue in the UK. It's the pricing. And styling, but more-so the pricing and lack of attractive finance/leasing deals currently.

Haha, I was thinking the same thing

The visual appeal of a 992 is light years apart from that of the current BMW design philosophy

Ancient VWs officially more common than G8x:

This one - yeah the pic sucks, I was already blocking people - i dunno what, vw karmann wagon or some-such? I'm too lazy to research it:

The one is old GTI - gotta be 80s? Again, too lazy ...

Still, in Cali in the 80s that GTI'd get you laid FOR SURE.

I purposely skipped the G generation and purchased a 2020 M4 Heritage! Best decision I made and probably will be the last true beautiful M4.

Whatever you think of these guys ... "Horse vs Beaver" is hilarious:
"Is the styling standing in the way of my getting this car? Yes it is."
"The BMW M4 feels more like a car for social media than solitary driving ... this car is very fast, but ... i don't think you were necessary, I don't think you earned it."

I wasn't intending to compare the designs. There's no debate about the beauty of the 992, but I don't hate all of BMW's current design language either.

The core problem with the new design language seems to be ... well, that picture is just some photoshop of BMW's latest stuff and people be like, "yup, that's a new BMW!" I'm not an artist, but if fans of my work couldn't recognize it (or fakes of it), I'd be distraught.

In any event, BMW's new designs seem so easily faked it makes me wonder if the same thing could happen with Audi, Porsche, or Benz ... I mean Hyundai tries, but everyone knows it's a fake ...

I was reading and searching for used GX8s and a lot of them are popping back up on Used market. Looks like people are purchasing them putting a couple thousand miles on them and then turning them back in. it's quite alarming for a new model to have so much turnover so quickly.

I think its also having the C8 effect with the current market. Some people would rather have the extra money it seems. Just look at the amount of posts in the G8X forum talking about selling their cars for profit.

Contrast that with the number of members interested in a former Indycar rookie of the year, top 10 Indy 500 finisher, and IMSA champion running the G82 on track: 2.

Two members interested enough to produce a couple of generic tire related posts. M have nuked their relationship with driving enthusiasts.

Honestly, disappointed by the lack of track content on the G8x board. I've seen one customer G80 so far at four track events this year, too.

It'll get better once the prices come down - the F8x is getting there already in the cycle of an M3 - but it's still quiet compared to the one we've got here.
