I believe there is a theory that some people harbor and expel a higher viral load than others

Went to a social distancing birthday party last weekend and noticed that one particular guest sprayed a mist of spit droplets everywhere when she spoke. I've known her for 5 years and have never noticed this. She just happened to be standing right with her back to a bright light and the sun going down. Every time she spoke this fine spray came out. I wonder if these so-called "super spreaders" are maybe folks who just have extra spitty mouths and tend to project more than others when they talk.

Found this which illustrates the phenomena:

How much are you really protecting yourself at this point?
If the reasoning is to keep aerosolized virus out of the air to protect others then it is not about protecting the individual. The more people wear masks, the more the virus is contained in the masks protecting everybody.

This is not a difficult concept yet so many cannot think beyond self.

It's not a difficult concept and I do understand the whole aerosolized part. I work in the medical field.

My whole point as you can see above was if people are pulling down their masks under their nose (I should have been more specific ->) where either they may cough or sneeze or someone else around them does it's not working. I've witnessed a lot of improper mask techniques which based on observations leads to the rhetorical question of protection. You can't protect yourself or others with your mask below your nose or pulled away from your face.

While not ideal, partial protection some of the time is better than nothing at all.

Well, our military personnel in harms way wear masks to protect themselves from chem-bio threats, not to prevent spreading a disease to their enemy.

They are terrible to breath through. I've been wearing them on and off at work as some of our Pts are Covid+. I had one on Sunday with a Cervical neck fracture. After the case I was struggling to breath having had the N95 on for hours. Obviously to be protected correctly a fit testing would be in order.
