Yeah, I’d like to meet up with someone to help walk me through a flash, looks easy but don’t want to screw the pooch! I know once seen I’d be able to confidently go it on my own. Did I read the reviews correctly, you can flash back to stock with no trace of the new override, like we use to be able to with COBB? I’m going to be pretty boring, just looking for the CS flash and GTS dct flash. Hopefully someone can assist me?

My warranty expires this week and about to pull the BM3 trigger. Interested in meeting up as well.

Regards,
Vanja

On the site they say something like it could void warranty etc, so I’m guessing yes. But if you have the ability to switch back to the original software then there is some comfort unless BMW were to do a deep DME read into the so called black box. Maybe someone from Bootmod3 can address these concerns?

The way it works is that when you first flash the stock file is saved. This file will have all the baseline readings/settings from prior to the flash. Which includes saving the flash counter at whatever number it is set at currently. So if your flash counter is at 3, it'll save and revert back to 3 and remove the DME tamper code when you flash to stock.

BMW will always be able to know if you had a tune on it previously. I wouldnt say a deep dive is needed but any deviation in the normal variables, such as a higher reading in historical MAF would be an immediate sign that something is up.

From my experience, you need a solid internet connection to ensure all the information is being sent from the server. I had an issues where there was some packet loss and the DCT flash caused an error. Had to get direct support from PTF.

I also flashed each time without a battery charger or any of that and never had a problem.

Dont buy the agent device either.

Let me know what your availability is...I can even build you an OBD agent if you're not comfortable doing it yourself.

Very gracious of you. The ODB agent is a nice alternative to laptop downloading. I’ll be out of town till mid October. Plus I want to speak with our tech, Robert, and see what he has to say about BMW warranty vulnerability.

I would like very much to get together when I get back. Looks like we might have a few others interested as well. If all can wait, it would be fun to designate a tune day? Otherwise I’ll just catch up when I get back.

I was a big fan of COBB when they had their flash units preprogrammed, maybe protune can come with something similar to avoid the WiFi shortfalls I’ve read about.

Lastly, which tune did you settle on if you don’t mind sharing?

Thank you for responding to my local request for help!

No worries man. Robert (if you mean from BMW of FFX) is the one who has been working on my car. I went with the Stage 1 93!

The one and only, we’ve been friends for a while. I’d let no one else work on my cars. Except for, like you, the intermediate oil services with Reese.

You will, don't worry! Was tearing up the streets of H20i for the past few days and they all approve!
