Outside of where I live I see M4's everyday. Where do you love?

no m3's available
Wow, just did an inventory search on 4 bmw dealers near me.
NOT ONE M3. plenty of M4's though well, i guess because they include the convertible too, seems like a lot.

BMW of Edison NJ would not negotiate with me over the M3, M4 yes. So I told them to take a hike, and went it another dealership that gave me a sweet deal $672 month 10k mile yr W/ $2k down for my YMB/SO m3

Anyone who is primarily after the value in the chassis and powertrain and thus wants a relatively stripped down car.
The sense I am getting is that things haven't improved much for the model mix since this thread was posted earlier this year. The evidence does seem to suggest that the demand for M3s is higher on this forum than with the population at large. I still think this is lost sales for BMW - they could be selling more M3s without cutting into M4 sales if BMW sedans buyers and luxury sedan buyers at large were more aware of the practicality of the M3. Hopefully we get some official, even if rough, coupe/sedan/convertible numbers at any time this year. |

My CA showed me a letter from BMWNA the other day saying they are trying to increase US M3 allocations. I guess a lot of dealers are complaining about not getting enough.
Here in Atlanta there seems to be a larger M4 population but not by too much. I would say 60/40. 6MT on the other hand is a real rarity. |

This is very interesting. I just bought my second F80 last week and it was the last one at the dealership. I decided to buy another this week and was told that there are no more new M3's unaccounted for in the whole country. M4s? Take my pick. My dealer alone has 4 including 2 from 2014 build. I'm in Australia btw.

I certainly agree with you that most people tend to option the cars up, so from a business perspective it is totally understandable for the dealerships to order them that way. Regarding the luxury and daily driving aspect, we'll leave the discussion as is so we don't drag the thread off topic. |

You would think this is something BMW would have accounted for. This generation sedan is so much more desirable than the last gen sedan. CF roof, same weight, same performance, fenders, etc.
I live in the nations 4th largest city and see more M4's than M3's, although I see neither frequently.

It seems they simply grossly overestimated the number of people who would wait a year for those LED tail lights they were preparing. Oh well. Anyway, now that that's out of the way they can give the guys in the trenches the orders: "Release the M3s!".

I dunno my CA seemed to fight for M3 allocations all year last year too. I simply think they underestimated the demand all together.

This whole demand and inventory situation makes me think about the end of the production cycle. Will the M3 be phased out sooner than the M4 just like the E90 was phased out ahead of the E92M? If so won't that make it even tougher to secure an M3 as it gets close to the end of its production cycle?

They didnt want a shit load of pissed off M3 fan boys complaining about the LCI update just 1 year into the mix So they didnt allocate as many as the M4... Which remained the same
