high beams and adaptive lights failture
Hello everyone.
Car: F80 2018 CP I have a problem with my icon adaptive lights. The error happens occasionally, always when it's already dark outside and the car wants to turn on the high beams. Sometimes it happens that an error pops up. It doesn't always happen, but once every 3 days. on the on-board computer: High Beam headlight failture Adaptive headlight failture Headlight vertical aim control unit Codes: 8059AB 805CE3 805CE4 8041B6 8041BA I don't know where to start to fix these errors. can anyone advise me? |

How could you fix something that you don't even have a clue how it works? Take the car to a garage/ specialist and see what they say. That is what I'd do.

Those are all consistent with your left headlight. Check wiring etc. for that light.

not yet. I was at a BMW dealer, they couldn't find the cause of the error here. I am scheduled for the next appointment to try to replace the modules between the left and right light, if the error moves or not. what have you tried so far?

Same issue here, looks like one of the high beam LEDs on the driverside doesn't illuminate then throws the error. Clears when I restart the car. When I get time I want to swap modules left to right and see if the fault follows, just haven't gotten around to it. I have too many M3s to maintain and this just doesn't reach the priority and I'm really dreading all the disassembly...

I had an adaptive headlight failure on my F80 comp about a year ago. Same kind of thing, the error went away when I turned the car off and on, but it would come back as soon as I turned the steering wheel. High beams would cease to function until I ignition cycled the car again. Dealer ended up replacing the headlight, saying it was not a serviceable unit and replacement was the only option. Thankfully I was just inside the end of my factory warranty period because the cost was ~$3k. Hoping for a better outcome for you but just throwing out my experience. Best of luck.

I finally got around to swapping the light modules from L to R and the error miraculously went away and hasn't come back. Maybe just reseating the connectors did the trick. It's kinda frustrating not knowing the cause, but a relief that I'm not buying a new module or headlight. I'll chalk it up to moisture and corrosion, though everything looked good. I did throw a little dielectric grease on the seals before reassembly to assist keeping moisture out.
