Telematics Unit Retrofit to 4/5G Cellular Technology?

Has anyone here gone thru this retrofit yet? I am going in for it on Thursday. Looks to be a bit complicated depending on what iCC ID you have on your car.
One method is hardware and software and the other is just software.
Let see how it goes with mine...

I said free cover by warranty one time only. Meaning you are set and good for the upgrade

CHeck the document on my first post and you will understand that is covered no matter what year.
Depending on year it will be just a upload of new data or a change of hardware and data.

If they tell you they have no idea what you are talking about, here is what you say:
As per CS from BMW Care Center:
"This information is available in the Warranty Validation Portal if the BMW center Service Manager question the action"
SIB 84 02 21

You should contact CS directly. Did you go to the service center or dealer?

The document I included on the original post will say that also. Certain that from 2017 on all of them qualify.

I'm pretty sure my car is going through this right now. It was at the dealer Friday for an issue with my rear tires losing air (this issue has been the worst) and the dealer offered this to me. Even gave me a loaner.
My car is a 2016

Replace the Car's Head Unit. The most efficient way to make an older vehicle compatible with CarPlay is to replace the head unit. Another way: explore OEM Retrofit Kits. On http://studydriver.com/technology-essay/ I have found all this information. Moreover, here I read that Apple CarPlay has been around since 2014. Also, you can maximize Bluetooth Connectivity. So a technology essay can help you quite a bit to solve all your problems and questions with your car.

Just did it Friday. Software only on a '17 M4.

Only bitch is lost all my coding and now BimmerCode does NOT have control module modification for my head unit so can't code back in full screen dvd in motion. My kids love that.

Not sure why BimmerCode doesn't have this. Maybe the updated idrive software is just too new? :
