That i8 is quick off the line, took some time for the M4 to reel it in.

That Camaro is such a stripped down track car, you have to crawl through the window to get in it.

I am surprised that the z28 couldn't pull in the m4 quicker, looked like the M4 got a horrid start.

+1

That M4 launch is among the worst I've ever seen. Get some traction off the line and the M could be third.

I look forward to seeing drag strip results from owners with better tires.

Can't believe how close the i8 and M4 were. I wish they had thrown in a regular Carrera S to see how it compares in the straightline to the i8 and M4. I knew the Turbo S would beat the GTR, the 991 is a lot lighter and a lot more aerodynamic that the GTR. I was most impressed by the Alfa Romeo though, with only about 240hp it still pulled in the 12's for the 1/4 mile. Epic!

I may have missed it, but how long was that drag race? Looked like a standing mile in the short version I watched.

One thing I found really enjoyable about that is, from an absolute distance traveled standpoint, it's interesting that the 237hp Alfa was about equidistant behind the M4 as the 560hp 911 was in front of it.

Anyway, for me it's never been amount absolute speed....it's always about in-cabin violence as a result of in-gear acceleration. I want more and more kidney punch as I get older

They said it was a 1/4 mile. Must have been edited by the Fast and the Furious movie teams tho. Seemed like forever lol.

If you freeze it at 2:55, you can see that the 2 AWD cars took off first, followed by the i8 with full instantaneous torque from the electric motor. The alfa, z28, jag and m4 were pretty even after that, so I don't think the M4 takeoff was horrible. Don't know what happened to the STI...would have expected a quicker jump.

+2 Wasn't expecting that showing from the z. Thought it would have been better.

M4 was close to the 550hp FType R.....not bad considering the higher HP and $$$ for the R.

-Turbo S, damn.
-Jag, meh for such a powerful 2 seater.
-Z28 lol, how anyone could justify this over a M4 as a DD in that price range..
-i8, wow! It almost didn't look right when it was keeping pace with the M4 like that.

That trap speed for the M4 is also right in line with the realistic trap speed that I've personally settled on (118 mph) after seeing a lot of info and back and forth discussions in these forums.

I dont think anyone is buying a z28 as a DD. It's a track focused car and makes no effort to be much more. The 1/4 isn't even surprising in it to me as has less hp than the camaro zl1 (right at 500hp). I dont remember the power to weight on it but wouldnt have expected it to come in any better than 4th. Add some turns and then it starts to shine as was seen in the drivers car article.

Good showing for both BMW. Surprised the Z28 wasn't quicker than M4.

i remeber seeing a video where porsches approach for the turbo s was to make it absolutely faster than the gtr as a benchmark. that is awesome.

m should do the same.

I'd like to see it go out to 1/2 mile or a mile.. I wonder why they don't? insurance or agreements with the automakers?
