Scraping on driveway solution
Has anyone tried using a speed hump to prevent scraping? Such as this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Scinotec-2200...576246&sr=8-33 I would place the rubber speed hump infront of the rear tires in the picture. I've already raised car up already, still scrapes a little. Tried going sideways, etc. Would like to avoid redoing driveway. I've tried 2" tall wood, it works, just not secure and moves. I've tried race ramps, again it works but not secured to ground enough and moves. Would like to use something slightly more secured/permanent, like a heavy rubber/recycled tired speed bump. Before I commit to that wanted to see if anyone else had any good ideas I haven't thought of, TIA. |

wow man that's very unfortunate. what is scraping? hopefully just the plastic undercovers but my concern would be is your exhaust/midpipe or other components also rubbing? your rocker panels are nearly touching. have you put the car on a lift to inspect? hopefully you can figure out a solution.

might try angling up the grass and then cutting back to exit the driveway. better to scrape on grass/dirt than concrete.

how could someone have approved a driveway so fucked up. look at all the other scrape marks. I bet a decent amount of other cars would also touch

Yup. I've seen Uber delivery drivers in regular cars barely make it. I'm sure anything that's remotely sporty scrapes. I think it's done to prevent water from going down driveway? I'm probably just going to give the speed hump a try since it's cheap.

Before you order that speed hump, do you have an HOA? I imagine that most neighborhoods with an HOA would have an issue with a black and yellow speed hump installed in the middle of the driveway. Good luck.

If you get it going at about 42 mph and jump it, it should clear.

we do, they don't seem to be too intrusive, the speed hump is obviously removable but heavy. once I make sure it works I have option of bolting it in. if it works I'll ask HOA how they feel. lol

these are pricey but someone in my neighborhood has it. I have looked into it myself, but at that price point I'm holding off a bit longer. |

Problem with that curb you're looking at is the peak height will only lift your car 2.2'' inches as you pass the peak of that section only. It may be enough, but dropping off that little curb as you pass it may compress the suspension and cause you to scrape.
Personally, I'd angle the car in so much that I'd probably have to use the grass. |

Do you clear if you hit it at an angle? I bottom out coming out of my office parking garage if I don't cut a 45 degree angle coming up the ramp.

Couldn’t you grind down that concrete to remove the crown?

Agree, You would have to grind down the sidewalk itself, not the driveway, in order to correct the approach side. Still seems feasible and more permanent than installing speed humps or ramps.
