OK, so maybe it's petty, but I am so used to BMW paying attention to the little things I am not sure why this was missed. It's night time, therefore dark in the cabin (other than the ambiance lighting), and I open the armrest storage to dig something out. WHERE THE %&#@ IS THE LIGHT? The ambiance lighting is not enough to light the compartment so I have to feel around and try to get what I am looking for.

Yeah, it's not a deal breaker but you think a small LED would have been an easy thing to include. I'm not looking for a friggin' flood light, just a small amount of illumination. I was going to stick on one of those LED lights that turn on when the magnetic proximity sensor is pulled away but it's too much light. I might have spend a little time and do a cheap mod.

Thumbs down

Are you kidding me?

How many cars these days actually have a light in the center console? Hardly any of them. Is it that fucking difficult to reach up and tap the interior light button? Give me a break.

I guess that means no auto manufacturer should do it then

Well, personally I don't want to turn on a bright white light while I am driving. But I guess you could apply your opinion to the areas that BMW decided to put lighting into. The ashtray compartment or the glovebox. Why put lighting in those places? Because it's CONVENIENT. It's not that it's fucking difficult to turn on a light switch, it's just more convenient to have the light already on when I open the compartment.

Oh, and you might try to lay off so much coffee in the morning

Yeah, and only in America will someone post a reply without reading the few responses in the thread first.

Geez, why all the hostility? At least Potty Pants was kind enough to post a helpful solution.

BMW always screws up with small details! they have to shift their interior team out and also the exterior team when we are talking about the 3-series rear end....damn i was disapointed when i saw the rear end of the 3'er for the first time

So angry this thread...

Sure it might not be hard to "reach up and turn on a light" but is it that hard to convey your opinions in a mature and respectable manner? Only in America can people get away with being so rude to others. If I got a warning for ragging on a 19 yo having his dad buy him a car because he did well on his finals, others around here could use a bit of temperment. (This comment was aimed directly at Couch and purplewindow...wait, your username is purplewindow?...only in America).

I see the OP's criticism of the lighting as a valid one. Yeah, there is a light above, but it would be nice to just have one already in the armrest storage too just like the ashtray and glovebox.

I've found myself having to go through my armrest storage annoyed I have to reach up for the light time to time too. But it's still not that big of a deal to me personally.

OP, if this really bugs you that much I guess the DIY is your best bet.

i got an idea...get one of those smaller sized disco balls, like they have at "Pimp My Ride" and just have a steady positioned flash light (maybe you can get a flashlight on voice command) just say "Flashlight On" and the moment it turns on you have a private mobile party within your own vehicle. you get to see into the storage + if you were into the Disco Era it would be really cool...think about it and let me know what you decide

I'm not angry, just irritated.

I could see it being a valid want if the console was really deep, like a truck. But it isn't even 2" in depth. I've been in the middle of nowhere, where the only light that exists is that from the moon. Never have to turn the light on to find what I'm looking for. You don't even have to turn the big light on, just one of the reading lamps.

Not trying to be an ass, but you may want to have your eyes checked for night blindness. Just a recommendation.

And if it will make uberdude happy, mod, please send me a warning if it will make him happy.

What the hell does that have to do with anything? I don't see the correlation here
It seems like you are the type of person that likes to stereotype people.

Oh, and BTW my car has never seen a drive thru...
