330i vs 335i handling

Does the e90 2006 330i handle any different than the 335i e90 with sports package on both? I saw a 330i 2006 CPO'ed for a good price in the color and options i want and I'm trying to decide if maybe I should just get that one instead and save a good amount of $$$. I know that acceleration on the 335i will be a lot faster.

I have a 330i myself and have driven my brother's 335i COUPE for a while now. The coupe handling definitely feels more direct despite being a heavier car than my 330i sedan. However, the 335i sedan may not handle as well as the 335i coupe, go for a testdrive!

The 330 handles the same as the 335, it's just a lot faster.

I drove both in base suspension, and my impression is that the extra weight of the 335 adds a bit of control to the suspension - it's like the difference you feel in the way a car rides after you've filled up the tank.

I think the correct term is "quicker".

In terms of differences with the suspension and brakes the only difference is the 335i has bigger rotors and bigger brakes. Other then that they will handle and ride the same.

Are you sure? do they have the same sway bars also? Are the brakes the same?

All reports are that the steering and handling of the 335i E90 versus 330i E90 are exactly the same. I've seen some people report that 335i stability control is more intrusive than 330i, but that is no doubt due to higher torque of the 335i (more spinning of rear tires).

As for brakes, both 330i and 335i have large front and rear brakes. 335i front discs are bigger than 330i (13.7/13.2 versus 13.0/13.2). Stopping distance is the same for both.

Thanks for the info. There is a 330i with 19k miles and CPO'ed (100k warranty) with pretty much all the options I want, going for $36,999, thats
8k less than a new same equiped 335i. I will test drive and make my mind up.

Drive the car and see what you think. The CPO warranty is nice, and saves you that additional cost on the 335i if you'd keep it that long. I'd offer them $30k though.

8k difference for a 2 year old car seams to small of a difference..besides you get the new engine and better resale value..I say you should reconsider the 335

might i reccomend NOT test driving b/c you cant justify the 335 vs 330 with speed...
but if speed is not ur factor then go for the 330 as the extra hp wont mean much

That's kinda dumb. Drive both then you can make a fully informed decision.

u noe porsche is not 50k more for nothing. Its handling is in a totally diffrent league as a 335 or even the new M3. Take any bmw and Porsche on a track you will see how the bmw get owned. But hey i love my bmw but just because 335 might be as fast as a carrera doesn't mean that a carrera isn't worth the extra 40 or 50 k

No I definitely know how a 911 feels (996S in particular), but I still don't think that in any way, shape or form does the steering justify Porsche's ridiculous pricing for their options. The car itself isn't all that expensive if you're gonna buy a stock one. A car with seats and power windows is gonna cost you a cool 100K though. It's annoying imo...but hey...it works for them. Have you seen the profits Porsche makes? Absolute craziness.

I don't know how much 2006 330i sedans (19k miles) are going for. The car has these options
-premium package
-sports package
-navigation
-Comfort Access

I believe that the Sedan is actually more balanced than the Coupe. There was a thread out there somewhere about it. Not sure if it's true or not, but just sharing the word. In most cases Coupe's will handle better because their wheels are larger giving them a larger radius, but both have the same. 225/255. If price is a big score for you and the extra power doesn't suit you, then I'd say go for the 330i, make sure its authorized used, and probably have it checked out my a BMW mechanic. If you go with the 335i, I'm 110% sure you wont regret it. If power is whats setting you back, don't test drive the 335i.

by far i'd go with the 335...the turbos are a lot more fun than the 330...plus that 330 seems really expensive for what it is...hmmmm..260hp or 300+?!?!
