i got it and it cost me about 500. Forget now what all it covers (at work so cant check) but I think it covers potholes on the basis that one of my co-workers got his tires replaced after hitting one going 45mph. It will not cover hitting curbs and things of that nature (they obviously wont cover for bad driving). I would say its one of the few options that is worth it and I have used mine once so far in 4 months (huge nail).

I just confirmed with Paragon today that RFT are indeed covered, as well as tire sizes that aren't exactly the same as that recommended in the manual (I'm thinking of doing 245/35/19). I don't have any experience making a claim with them though (touch wood)... |

The program I am thinking of has a $600 cap per tire and up to $1200 for each Wheel. Unlimited claims and will payout so long as the tire has 1/16th of tread. Covers if a tire is not repairable due to puncture, bruise, impact, break or other road hazards.

They told me the same thing at my dealer--if the tire is losing air, then the rim is replaced or fixed. Cosmetic only--no dice. So then you just go out and hit the same curb a little harder....

(Good luck trying to bend the wheel more without bending the suspension components!)

Paid $390 for 5 years, wheel and tire protection. Never used it in over 14 mos. These packages like everything else, can be negotiated as far as price goes. I should have offered the finance manager $99 for it, he may or may not have taken it. If he didn't take it, I would have ended up saving $390. I did the same with the "protection package" (dings) where he wanted $799 and I offered $499. I got burned because he accepted the $499. I used the PDR once, and it's very unlikely I'll need it 4 more times to break even. Heaven help anybody who bought it for $799.

$599, 5 years, no deductible, covers up to $6k in damage per year to tires OR rims. This was sold through my dealership.
I've had the car for 4 weeks and have already used it once. I expect to use it again as potholes in and around the NYC area are really bad.

at volvo(i know not a bwm) they cover the rim or tire. same way has to be leaking/cracked wheel to get it covered. if the wheel is even a litle bent when we call it in for the auth. we tell them the wheel is cracked and there is a hole in the tires sidewall. no questions asked- its covered. we have a few customers who have more then 10 tires covered.
when i ever get my 335 i'm getting it. and guess what.... when the tires are kinda low on tread i'm going to get a couple of nails in the tires. maybe not all at once....... Last edited by baggerben; 01-21-2008 at 08:08 PM.. Reason: cant type |

dude...listen to me
Buy it from TwinKidneyGrill.com from Rodney. He's a sponsor for Bimmerfest and there's a discount code ("fest") on all items. I bought my tire insurance and extended maintenance plan from him. No tax unless you're around there. I highly recommend Rodney for his service and speed. I just got a screw in my tire and it totally paid off. The tire insurance cost $520 with the discount code. It offers 5 years no-limit/no-deductible tire/wheel insurance and it covers every wheel (even aftermarket). $520 is definitely worth it. Just my rear tire cost $440 to replace. And that's one tire ONLY! Any car qualifies for this coverage I think.

so if the rim is bent, and it causes the car to rattle / or if the steering wheel is shaking, it's not covered...
but if the tire cannot hold air, it's covered? that's ridiculous.... because if the rim is bent, the whole wheel shakes, your car is pulling right or left hard, and your steering wheel will shake too... almost seems as if they should cover this!!!! |

That's the theoretical way or clinical way of looking at it, factual. How people are replacing multiple tires all the time under the protection is something I don't understand, but they are surely getting their money's worth. It's like going to a buffet that costs $50 (like that Fogo place) and saying dude, I ate 7 plates last time I was there, definitely worth it. Under those extremes, yes. But the avg. person fills up on salad and barely eats one more plate...add the $3 6 oz. sodas and it's $70 per person, a rip-off, just like protection packages.

I got approved under BMW elite status and all that stuff added like $122 a month to my payment: GAP insurance, extended warranty, and tire/wheel insurance.
Tire/Wheel insurance for me was $11/month x 60 months which equates out to $660 total I didn't bother with it, because I'm sure there is some "exceptions" on why it wouldn't get replaced if I fukt it up |
