What Brand of Tint??? 3m good??
Hi I just got a new 335i Alpine White Coupe and I am looking at getting a good tint job done. Now I have seen alotta different pictures on here so I think im going to get 35% done all around. I looked up a local tint shop with good reviews but they ONLY deal with the 3m brand. He said over the phone that they have ceramic which doesnt mess with the navi n such. Is this a good brand? How does it compare to formula one, which I dont even know if they sell in California. Thanks for the input guys!

Sorry, I have to pitch for Sean at Ultimate Shield. If your doing Clearbra, he is really really good. He also has a great tinter and does do Formula 1. He says his tinter is great, although I have no experience with his tinter, he reapplied part of my clearbra. Ask for Sean.
It's not the cheapest, but work and quality is excellent. (If I stay on socal after school, I'm doing my tint/CB stuff only here) http://www.ultimateshield.com/index.php There's also a guy in Santa Monica, A1 or something, saw a recommendation on the forums through a search, but bubbles popped up after a while and so I don't recommend him...he only does front windows to 35% too =(. |

3m FTW! I have had it on all of my cars. Its great!
Make sure to tell whoever tints it to use clear elmers glue on the rear window at the top so you don't get air bubbles where the dot matrix is. |

I'm looking to tint my AW too, whats the deal with dyed tints (non-metallic). Found a place that uses that instead to not interfere with electronics. Anyone have any comments?

Curious, as I am on the verge of slapping 3M on my car as well ---- are the straight scratches in the rear related to what other members on this forum have experienced? Here's the thread http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50550 Apparently BMW only put felt on one side of the rear windows, as opposed to both the exterior and interior. As a result, debris can get inside the window when rolled down, causing whatever debris inside to scratch the tint when rolling up the window.

I think I'll need to research if 3M has a high end version of their tint..I remember in my old cars it scratching easy. Also there was a slight haze between the tint and window..maybe thats just a half ass installtion.
