Hmmm...Diesel vehicles are very common in Europe...when will US have diesel cars???

It's actually a good idea I think -- it lets you get the "premium" trim level with the smaller engine if you want. In the US the trim level is tied to the engine size. It's not like the car has an "SE" or "ES" badge on the deck.

I know but it seems weird BMW would use this nomenclature that is normally used on less premium brands.

Just seems like a recipe for confusing buyers in the hopes of upselling them to options they otherwise wouldn't have purchased.

Honda, Toyota have done well with their SE, EX, LX, DX, CE configurations so I guess BMW figured it must make sense.
