Chicago: Cruise to the Car Show (May 16)

After a great turnout at the Spring Meet at Burnham Harbor (40+ cars), many have already been asking when the next event is. Since we didn't necessarily take a cruise at our last event, I believe we can take advantage of the Autobahn Country Club Car Show on May 16 by meeting in Chicago beforehand and taking a fun cruise down there.

The Autobahn Car Show (http://savethedate.windycitybmw.com/car-show/) is held at the racetrack in Joliet and is hosted by BMW CCA. There are other activities going on throughout the day including go-karting and actual track time, so I hope it will be a fun adventure for everyone. If you plan to show your car, be sure to register on the website.

As for the cruise, I suggest we meet at Burnham Harbor (same as Spring Meet) about 9:30am (1.5 hours before the show starts) and take off shortly after. If anyone knows of a good route please shout it out, otherwise I-55 seems to be the most logical. If you can make it, please vote accordingly.

When: Saturday, May 16 @ 9:30am (leave for cruise by 9:45am)

Where: Start at Burnham Harbor and end at Autobahn Country Club (3795 Centerpoint Way, Joliet, IL 60436)

It'd be nice if the Regional forums linked across all models. [* Note - I just found the Meets & Events sections and see that it links across all forum models. So I add the Car Show there. I'll let ChicagoM4 post the Cruise he if would like.]

Saw the meet you guys had last weekend, I was in Michigan until noon so I missed out. Hopefully I'll catch you guys 5/16 either at the harbor or at the show!

I won't be cruising with you, as I will be at Autobahn CC bright and early participating in Windy City's track day. If you haven't joined BMW CCA yet I highly encourage you to do so - the Windy City Chapter runs lots of great events!

That's awesome to hear. I will be spectating since I have some other things going on that weekend but I'm sure it'll be a blast.

I'm in but won't be able to do the cruise. Their page is asking to register car if showing, I'm assuming we don't need to list car for show right? Since it is an event by BMW CCA, I'm assuming there will be a lot of BMWs. I wish I could do the cruise so I could meet others.

Too bad you can't make the cruise. If you don't want to show your car then I don't think you need to register or do anything other than show up. See you there!

Correct, the registration is only needed if you want to exhibit your car in the show!

While that was mostly joking, I had two honda pilots before getting this BMW. I tell ya, owning pilots is not very exciting.

there are plenty forums but no one wants to meet and greet. I couldn't even get pilot owners at work to have a mini owner experience get together.
