LEMON!! New M3 dud on arrival

So I have been patiently waiting to post....trying to be patient and understanding but the time has come for the TRUTH.

I have much to say so please humor me.

I have recently owned a 2011 550i and a 2013 335i M Sport. I have wanted an M3 my whole life, this is a dream car and a goal...not just a car to me. I sold my 550i and made the decision I was going to make this goal come true, I shopped for months and finally ordered a little over 2 months ago.

Spec'd out a 15' M3, DCT, Yas Marina Blue with SS interior, CF Roof, Exec Pack, LED Pack, Black 19's, Enhanced BT.....
Hit order, tracked the car all through production and shipping like many other feigns.... exciting but brutal.

[IMG][/IMG]

I took delivery on 4/28, finally!!! I drove home happy as a pig in shit. When pulling in the garage the first night I noticed some weird behavior and then the car stalled out...I was in the spot and thought maybe I did something wrong??

Next day, off to work and on a break I run up the street. When I come back out I start the car and it immediately is acting really weird, strange idle....revving itself in small spikes to 2k RPM's intermittently...then it stalls. I restart with the same results until stalling about 3 or 4 more times.....then drive-train malfunction. WTF!!! less than 24 hours and 70 miles on the car. Roadside is a joke...after 2 hours a dolly tow truck shows up and I say sorry but no thanks.

[IMG][/IMG]

I said screw it and tried starting it....she starts right up. I drop off at dealership and apologies are pouring out. Next day they say I'm done and ready for pickup. My first concern was that they couldn't explain what was wrong yet they said its fixed I said how can you tell me its fixed if you don't know the issue, they claimed they reflashed and problem was fixed so no more issues. I go to leave and start the car in the service drive and immediately same issue revving itself until it stalls.

By now I'm HOT I go in looking like the HULK and sputter out some kind of words. I make a beeline for the main desk to call a manager while dropping some choice words (emotion was getting the better of me) Little do I know the GM is hot on my tail having witnessed the whole thing including car failure. He was cool and very apologetic promising we will make it right.

After a week in the shop they still can't determine issue. The car is not properly logging any faults or codes. They are working with BMW engineering to correct, tried everything under the sun. Drove test all week to the tune of 90 miles and can't replicate issue. Eventually say we beleive the latest reflash corrected it. I pick up the car and make it home this time....yeah.

Next day, boom....same problem. Keeps stalling out on restart. I call, explain, they grimace, we all sigh. Next morning no problem car starts up for me to bring it back for service again. 3rd time!!

*Note, I was smart enough to take video of every episode the car was misbehaving and I called BMW NA on day 1 of issue and have had a resolution expert working with us through the whole process. All parties feel really bad and know how frustrated, disappointed, and heart broken I am at the happenings. Additionally, despite this I have been more than patient and understanding despite how bad it has been eating me up*

At this point they were trying to determine next steps. I believe there is a fear they can't get me a new car in a reasonable amount of time so they make the decision to try and fix again with the help of BMW engineering. They have had the car for the past 6 days.... 15 days in total at this point out of my 17 days of ownership.

The good news is that the car is replicating the issue for them all the time so they have full evidence and during the week it finally throws a HPFP code. They replaced both fuel pumps and called me today to tell me they think they finally got it. The repairs were done and no issues. I went to pick up the up the car and explained how any more issues means we have to go a different direction but I will remain optimistic. I get the car.......take a big breath and hit start.......FAIL!
Immediately the car does the same thing...rev rev rev stall......rev revrev drive-train malfunction.....stall.

With my head hung low I take the walk of shame back to service with all eyes on me

How can this be??? Brand new dream car.....not a single full day of enjoyment....now only 400 or so miles on it half of which came from service.

The main issue....this car has evil software Gremlins that can't be undone... The car will not properly communicate and log faults. How will the car ever be able to work properly when this is the case. Its hard to fix what you don't know is happening.

I am currently awaiting a call in the morning to determine where we go from here. the dealership is just as frustrated and has my back. BMW is well aware and the case is well documented.

Here is a short video from today..... not very exciting but this way you can see what it is doing. Don't mind my commentary (more talking to myself) very perplexed.

http://vid289.photobucket.com/albums...ps0jtey0ve.mp4

Right after this clip (trimmed down for size) it goes to malfunction and then stalls.

Get a new car even if you have to wait. It sucks, but you've waited your whole life for this... a few more months for your dream car is worth the wait. Maybe tell them to get you a 2016 for the same deal (+ a little extra for the trouble)

Wow I feel sooo bad for you! I can't imagine how difficult and heart wrenching this is for you. I hope everything works out in your favor and they right all the wrongs that has haopened. Please keep us updated on everything so we can all know what to do if we experience the same problems. I wish you the best! Wish I can buy you a round of beers or something, even though that would only mask the problem. Best of luck buddy! Keep us updated!

I can't add anything or say much, but I'm very sorry to hear about this horrible experience. Sucks is an understatement. Hope it gets resolved somehow someway soon.

Thanks all..... I appreciate the support.

It amazes me that a car of this caliber with all of the testing and technology can fail like this.... she rejected me as her owner.

I am waiting to figure out what we can do...... the Delivery Experience was obviously a HUGE letdown overall.

Man, I'm sorry to hear that! Keep us posted. Let's hope BMW treats you right and doesn't jerk you along like Porsche did to Nick Murray.

Really sorry for your troubles. Amazingly, the way you tracking the issue with NA office will be a great help for people with such a bad luck. I think you'll land with a new shiny M car very soon.

Besides that, BMW NA owes you at least 2 day M Performance school.

Oh wow

I'm so sorry to hear this. It seems like the entire engine/drivetrain is a dud. I hope you get it fixed, or something because I would hate to be in your shoes. Unfortunately, even BMW M engineers will mess up every once in awhile. Having it happen to you though is just terrible honestly.

But at least on the bright side, maybe you'll be first in line for 2016? Or even give you something better ^_^ Or... replace the whole damn thing.

I think they should hook you up with a new car, fully loaded (or whichever options you want) and full exterior paint and interior individual choices.

if leased or financed they should credit you a few months payment as well.

Just a nightmare. At least it's well documented. You'll get a new car and the dealer should be able to get you into a nice loaner.

Thanks guys

Ultimately that's why I'm posting. For morale support and to help my fellow brothers and sisters who may experience the same.

They have all of my video clips on file, I noted every phone call date and time to file. I have all records...... It's called CYA right.

Have stayed on BMW as well. I will say that all parties have been extremely communicative within reason, and all have showed sympathy.

Hopefully me not acting like a complete jackass to them will help my cause.

Sorry for your troubles with the car sir, I would feel miserable if I were in your shoes. so optimistic view is refreshing to see. Now if it were me I would push for a replacement, another new car. Why, because I would always be afraid that this car would one day get bit again by the gremlins that have a hold of it now. But that's just me, I think it's the least BMW could do for a long time customer ordering his dream car.

The scary part is I don't think that they get nearly as generous as we would all feel is necessary to make up for a situation like this.

I'll bet it turns out to be something really simple like a loose electrical connector, bad ground, or a short in a wiring harness. Unfortunately those things can all be really difficult to troubleshoot - especially if it's intermittent. On the bright side the car should be fine once the problem is found and corrected. If you haven't already, you should get familiar with the lemon law rules and buyback requirements in your state - just in case.

Damn. That sounds horrible. Reminds me of when the 2007 335i first came out. First generation BMW engines are always kind of a toss up. Except when they made the V8 E9X M3. That engine is pretty damn stout. ]

Hope it all works out in the end man. I def wouldn't want that car even IF they got it figured out in the end..once a lemon, always a lemon. Let BMWNA buy that thing back and sell it to some poor sucker at an auction.

I strongly suspect you will get a brand new car and you should. So sorry that this has happened to your car. Hopefully, you'll be in a new one soon and can experience how awesome this car truly is.
