Dyers daring double dip delivery...dutifully digitally documented

Would you dare to plan an ED trip around a business trip and then top that with a PCD delivery planned around a wedding? Timing was everything and somehow it all worked out.
We arrived in Munich on a holiday, my 50th birthday, so we had a day to sight-see and drink beer, before the big delivery.
We had debated on bringing our son.
We found that the signage in Munich was....less then helpful in confirming our decision.

Woke up the next day to pick up my car. Nicole was terrific.
My first question
"How fast is 5500 rpm in 6th gear?"
Nicole "NO! Zis is not ze question! 110mph max!"
Needless to say I didn't exceed 110 after that stern talking to.

Of course it was raining when we finished our victory lap and headed outside. We dropped off the car at valet parking so we could check out everything there is to check out.

Good thing we did because we might have missed this? Is that asd?

What a first class operation! Everything is included. None of the "oh, for just a few euros you can have a print of the photo we took." Nope, they hand you the print AND the digital copy on a flash drive with some other stuff on it.

We toured the museum and then headed off to Salzburg...in the rain.

My wife hijacked part of our trip to do a "Sound of Music" tour thing. But Salzburg is a very cool place. We stayed at the Villa Trapp. Here was our view from our room.

Yes, yes, they need to clean the gutters.
Spent two nights there. Wife loved it, so it was worth it.
Then off we went, headed for Italy. We took the Grossglockner. Seemed to climb forever. Met some German bikers who were quite interested in the car. They spoke no English, and we spoke no German but they managed to ask how much horsepower.

Then to the Dolomites.
We didn't stay here.

We did eat here.

We made it to Riva del Garda on Lake Garda (I swear).
And checked into Hotel Sole. It's a beautiful hotel and surrounding area.

The best part is they have secure garage parking. They lock the cars in the garage and pick you up in a golf cart and take you to the hotel. If I needed to get something out of my car I would have had to have them open the gate to get in. Slept like a baby thanks to this. Plus the car sounded mean (wife says obnoxious) inside the garage.
This was our view from our room.

The road that leads into the tunnel is the road that was used in the opening of "Quantum of Solace" James Bond lost the door of his Aston. We fared better but had we not, BMW would have fixed it.
When we left Riva del Garda I asked my wife why we were leaving. I could have stayed there the whole time.
We checked out and headed to Lake Como where we had lunch.
The Italians really know how to eat and drink. They make something so simple so delicious. Maybe one of the best meals I have ever had.

After lunch we were off to Ascona in Switzerland.
Who said the roads in Italy were tight?

We stayed at the Hotel Riposo. This place you had to take an elevator to get to the parking lot. This is what I call secure parking. Wife did an awesome job picking hotels.

I will say Switzerland is pricey. But beautiful. Who doesn't like a rooftop pool?

I wanted to do a side by side but the guy was in a very animated phone conversation so I let it go. Plus I had no idea if he spoke English.
Then we were off to stay a night with friends near Basel.
Why is it in Europe they like to tell you what the speed limit isn't?

Then to Hotel Mueller Hohenschwangau Germany
This was the view from our room.

I thought this was an awesome parking spot. On the end and the guy (or gal) in the Merc backed in. I was not worried about getting parked in by a hotel van or having a critter walk across my CFRP roof at all.

Then back to Munich saw this along the way. Very exciting, for me, wife didn't understand the "test mule" thing but I assured her it was cool.

We had a few days layover in London where I think someone was messing with me.

Then the big long wait wait wait until my sister-in-law's wedding. Would the timing work out? Would we have to make two trips or could we combine the wedding in Asheville with the PCD? I read where you had 12 days to play with, meaning that you could request a later date by 12 days. The date I got was 14 days before I wanted for the wedding. But they said okay and YES it all worked out. Well except I had to wait TWO FULL WEEKS LONGER!! Oh and I don't think the in-laws understood that the bride will now be the second best looking thing at the wedding.

I can't tell you how much fun we had doing the PCD. I think the best part was watching my wife drive. Again BMW does it up right.
Pick up at the airport, dinner, hotel room for the night, breakfast transportation to the Performance Center, use their cars, lunch, factory tour, X5 off roading and then finally got my car. Whew we did it!!
Now THAT is how you buy a car!!!

I picked up the Blackvue DR3500 HD. I didnt use it before my trip. When I looked at the video it was upside down so it took some painstaking post production processing to get it right side up and then to also have sound.
But it was worth it.

Donger Kim you wont regret it. AW/SO is an awesome combo. Really great for showing off carbon fiber bits. And it will be an absolute BLAST to drive.

snareman, SakhirM4, Mark's M Thanks for the kind words. It was such a fun trip, my wife is already talking about doing something like that for her next car. When I told her about my idea she couldn't believe it. Most folks cant believe what BMW offers up for the ED and PCD. Im still not sure I do.
