Painting a PDC ?

Hey guys one of my PDCs fell out of my e92 335i. The cars painted AW but I can't find any PSCs painted for my car. Can I buy an unpainted one and paint it myself?

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to, it all depends on your painting skills. if you're using aerosol spray paint in Alpine white just do a few base layers then a lot of thin coats of clear and then wetsand to remove orange peel.

I'm here imagining how I'd do that, and laughing at myself. Maybe I'd hold the piece with my fingers and sand it? I thought of the "world's smallest violin" joke lol

Good advice though.

I'm just worried about the paint messing up the sensor? Meaning it'll just go off because there's a layer of paint. I'm just asking because I've heard of people saying you can only use a certain paint ect..

HAHAHAH, you could just tie it to a string and then hang it from something, that's how I did my headlight washer cover.

Nah, you should be good since the paint is directly on the sensor the sonar goes directly through it and it has no impact. PDC works by emitting ultrasonic waves. It emits a electronic sound wave and bounces back on the stationary/moving object and it send it back to the computer of the car to let you know that someone/something is there. Paint cannot stop an ultrasonic wave, just be careful and take it slow no special paint is needed. they are painted in the factory with the same process the rest of the car goes through.

Pdc are fine to paint. Comfort access door handles are not. Tape the plug end to a paint stick, bam ready to go. Before anyone flames me for CA, we had 2 cars damaged at door handle on the same day but on opposite sides of NYC and it took months to get handles direct from Germany. If BMWNA won't paint them, it's probably an issue.
