What to do to ensure an M2 for June 2017
So my M235 lease will be up in June 2017. I love the car and definitely want to move on to an M2 next. I have talked to dealers who refused to put my name on the waiting list because it was too soon. But now I am afraid that come next year, I will not be able to get an M2 unless I reserve my spot from now.
Anyone know a dealer in So Cal that would take a deposit now for a June 2017 allocation? Thanks in advance |

Too soon??
You need to get a deposit down and/or get on a list ASAP. Telling you it's too soon implies that you could get one much sooner than June 2017. If that were the case, why wouldn't they just take your order now for a M2 to be delivered in June?? |

Just get on a list. Tell the dealer if the car comes before June 2017, you'd like to get an early lease buy out. Most dealers will do it without too much issue or money lost, especially since you're getting a new car through them.

No they will not and especially not if the dealer is not a BMW full circle dealer.

Since allocations are not very forthcoming and the lists are huge, the car is pretty much sold out deep into 2017 at this point, especially if the three month allocation numbers are any indication. |

Why not just get on a list and if an allocation comes sooner than your lease is up, tell the dealer to bump you back one spot.

SoCal dealers, the 5 I've been to, wont put you on a list. They say there is no list. They want to wait, get the cars, create the hype and gouge whoever they can for the most they can.
I'm looking at reserving a spot at an out of state dealer and making a trip out of it. |

edit: Also, because they're a Penske dealer, they won't charge you over MSRP. |

Ramos I've been offered a spot on the waiting list at both BMW of San Diego and BMW of El Cajon. Many people have dropped out of the original wait lists, so they are constantly in flux. BMW of SD wouldn't tell me how much their first M2 went for (the buyer is a member here on the forum) but BMW of El Cajon wants $20K over.
SoCal dealers can markup bc there are enough people here willing to pay over sticker to drive something new/exclusive. Same problem you would see around NYC or Miami. I keep telling my local Porsche dealer that I will pay MSRP for a GT4, that there is no way they will sell it for $20K over, and I am wrong every time they sell one.

Thank you for that info, that really sucks..
I am from SD and my M235 was leased through El Cajon. My CA recently moved to BMW of San Diego, so I have a relationship at both dealers. I will not pay a markup, especially not 1.5 years after the car was released, so for now I just need to try and get on the list at either dealership and see what happens next year. |

OK, so I am finally officially on a list for MSRP at BMW of San Diego.
Number 22 on the list and being told they are currently getting 2 allocations a month so the timing should hopefully work out for getting a car around June 2017 (when my M235 lease ends) |

Rock solid dealership. Over the years, I've bought 5 new bimmers from them. Congrats and hope the timing works out for you! -scr
