Does anyone want to swap allocations?

Not sure if this is worth posting, but here it goes...

I have an allocation for a week 45 build out of a dealer on the East coast, but I live in Arizona. I can't wait to get my M2, but I'm starting to wonder if getting it shipped across the country is going to be a huge pain.

Does anyone have an allocation somewhere far from where they live and prefer an east coast allocation?

Send me a PM if you have a west coast allocation and would prefer an allocation in Virginia. My build is for MSRP and the build is adjustable for the next month or so.

I bought my BMW from Arkansas and had it "courtesy delivered" to a California dealer for free. Your $995 destination fee includes BMW shipping it directly to one dealer in the US.

But that involves you negotiating with two dealers to sign up for it...

Realistically it is zero skin off of the receiving dealers back to receive it, they just have to do the normal PDI (which is a warranty-covered service labor item anyway!).

TucErDoc ship it back, Intercity Lines quoted me $1,900 for enclosed transport. It won't be difficult, they can work with your CA to load the car, you won't need to be there.

PCD in Palm Springs should be an option by then. Have it sent to Thermal Springs and maybe drive one on the track to learn what they can do. Then drive yours home. You gotta set it up before in gets on the boat.

I've inquired about PCD on the West coast and as best as I can tell it will not be available for at least another year... otherwise would have been a great idea

PCD is not an option at Thermal, I was just there yesterday and they don't the facility to do PCD. They will open the permanent school building soon but it won't include PCD.

Thats what it cost me. I was at Thermal in March. The Operations guy said early 2017 when I asked. He made it seem like that was way later than expected. Mentioned building permits and slow inspections as the reason. Being a week 45 build, I thought it might work.

Wow, that's pricey. I paid $900 to get a X6 from Ohio to Texas. Dealer arranged it. I do not remember the carrier though.

Is 900 enclosed or open carrier?

You do know Virginia to California/Arizona is a much longer distance and Intercity only does enclosed shipping. They also specialist with high end exotics and classic cars.

This will be good for me. I bought mine from a California dealer but wanted to bring it Seattle. Do you just talk to two dealers and get them to agree on it? In terms of paperwork, who's gonna do it? Why would the dealer here in Seattle willing to do it though, unless they make money from BMW by doing the PDI test?

You just need to get the receiving dealer to agree to it. Tell them that you'll handle all of the registration paperwork and they just need to receive it off the truck and PDI it.

PDI is a warranty labor item covered by BMW regardless of what dealer sold the car, so it's no different than you bringing your car in for a problem at a later date.

Entice them by telling them you will bring your car there for service going forward, and that you'll leave them a glowing review on social media with photos from the delivery.

The trick is either talking to the Sales Manager at the receiving dealer directly, or the right senior sales guy that is willing to go to bat for you (a small bribe may be in order).

Once they agree, all your selling dealer needs to do is tell the BMW corporate folks that can update the system that the "destination dealer" is a different dealership, and the rest of the routing happens automatically.

I see, thank you for the explanation So basically the receiving dealer only do the receiving and PDI. But I still pay the California dealer, right?

Correct. You'd do the paperwork and payment in advance.

So I got a dealer in the area to agree to courtesy delivery. But it's going to cost me $1000. I think it's probably worth it since shipping would enclosed across the country will cost me double that

Courtesy delivery isn't on an enclosed truck but at least if there's damage you didn't take delivery from BMW yet and it can be fixed. It should be free though, not 1K. Your local dealer is getting paid to do the make ready process.

Out of all the pictures I've seen The cars don't come in enclosed trailers from the port anyways.

That sucks that they are charging that. It is virtually zero work for them.
